Thanks to my fellow reviewers for another great recommendation! We were looking for a B&B near Monticello for an overnight stay and chose the Inn based on TripAdvisor.com recommendations. We were very happy with it.
Our room, the Jefferson, was on the ground floor and was added in a recent renovation- everything was immaculate. We had a private porch, although it was a little cold outside during our stay. The grounds are full of plants and flowers, and the occasional groundhog and deer. Rudy, the resident dog, was as friendly and cuddly as other reviewers have said!
The owners have put together a wealth of material on nearby attractions and good day trips. There's free Wi-Fi but my company computer kept disconnecting me, even after Carolyn, one of the owners, made some helpful suggestions and I'd gone through the usual tricks to make it work. Finally I decided I was on vacation and better off keeping away from my e-mail!
Breakfast was wonderful- lemon cream pancakes with blueberries as well as your choice of blueberry or maple syrup, fruit, sausage, fresh muffins and what I think was elderberry jam. Even the coffee is a special blend made for the Inn.
Breakfast is the only meal served, but downtown Charlottsville, a short drive away, had a wonderful variety of restaurants (almost all local instead of the usual franchises) mixed in with bookstores and art and antique stores.
We loved the Inn at Monticello and would be happy to stay there again.
