I haven't been in Charlottesville in ten or more years and while it always had some good restaurants, it has become a food destination. I was here this weekend for business and have had several very good meals. Spanish tapas is a favorite cuisine and I am pleases to say Mas Tapas met and exceeded my expectations. We had the Spanish sausage, the broccolini with garlic and sherry, the octopus and shrimp skewers, the dates with bacon and the grilled artichokes with garlic aioli . The artichokes were excellent, as where the grilled dates wrapped in applewood smoked bacon. The pork sausage was good, but would have been elevated by the addition of some sautéed garlic and some smoked paprika oil. The broccolini was good, but needed something to make it memorable. The Banderillas were very tasty, but the one bite on each skewer left us with a very brief taste gone before we really could fully appreciate it.
