“Nice addition to "The Corner"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

As a UVa alumnus, I generally visit my old favorites at the corner. I actually didn't even realize this place existed until a friend recommended we try it. It is an excellent addition to the corner offerings. Sandwiches are made on a variety of freshly baked breads and ingredients are fresh. Personally, I had the chicken salad on wheat with the house dressing, which apparently is not to be left off your sandwich. There is a wide variety of chips and a few salads available for sides.

The restaurant itself is pretty small, but we were able to secure a table on this busy parents' weekend at The University. In traditional "corner" style, there are a couple of outdoor café tables to enjoy also. Fountain drinks are available with free refills and they are apparently pretty proud of their water filtration system that feeds the fountain. There are also bottled beverages available.

Upon entering the restaurant, things seem a bit chaotic as there didn't really seem to be a true line. The other customers were very courteous as people would ask, "have you ordered yet?", to try to stay in order of arrival. The service was pretty quick given the confusion, and our order was correct.

This is located around the corner from the famous Mincer's and is near The Biltmore Restaurant.

“Lives up to the undergrad memories”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

Take It Away is a favorite among locals and students alike. This is a no-frills, but quality deli with plenty of delicious options for your gourmet sandwich. You absolutely must get the house dressing or it's not worth the trip! Plenty of chip options to complement your sandwich-- but true to its name, there isn't much seating. Most folks take it away. Easy lunch-on-the-run for anyone looking to enjoy a day outside in Cville.

Our family enjoyed our lunch at Take It Away. The french bread sandwiches with house dressing were wonderful! The service was quick.

“Terrific sandwiches, great homemade bread and the herbed mayo is to die for!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

I love these sandwiches. Simple but so incredibly tasty. It's always mobbed at lunch time and that's a sign of how good it is. Personal favorite is sliced chicken with havarti on french with the herbed dressing (mayo and herbed goodness which is available in containers to simply dip bread into) with sprouts and cucumbers. Tasty! Plus do not miss the lemon squares or the other home baked sweets. Roast beef is also delish!

“Homemade breads”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2012 via mobile

Very convenient to UVa. Was recommended to me by a recent grad. Ham and turkey combo was heavy on meat and breads were homemade. Will definately be back!
