“Good University Pub Atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

Long list of brews...robust and tasty menu....good service. Great place to relax after a hard day of work or travel. When the former owner decided to close and sell this place several years ago, the customers bought it! That should tell you a lot!

“Wings, Beer, and Happy Hour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

Excellent wings of good size with a dozen+ sauces. Like it hot ? Try the Viking Funeral. Milder, go with the Thai. Tues. they have a great wing special, a number of microbrews on tap and they had $1.5 PBR drafts cheap and those help put the fire out. Parking is always tough near the UVA corner, they do validate for an hour if you use the nearby parking deck.

“Charlottesville's "Cheers"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

This bar has been a UVA/Charlottesville staple for almost 30 years. Located on the UVA corner, it draws a mix of UVA students, hospital employees, and locals. They have a great personalized mug program for the regulars. They have great food specials most days of the week - Tuesdays: double wing day, Wednesdays: BBQ sandwich, Thursdays: burgers, etc. Happy hour specials are also a good deal. The menu is varied enough for everyone to find something they like. If you order the fries, make sure you get them with cheese and cajun spices - awesome! They have a wide draft beer selection to suit most tastes - from PBR to BBC's Bourbon Barrel Stout. My friends and I have been coming here for over a decade - good food, relaxed atmosphere, and friendly staff. Cheers!

“Sad.....”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

Two co-workers and I walked into the restaurant at 11:40 am and had the place to ourselves. When we left at 12:35 there was only one other person dining. This used to be one of our favorite lunch places, but if our experience today is typical we understand why no one was there. One of the daily specials was fish & chips. My co-worker specifically asked if they had tartar sauce and was told yes. Fifteen minutes after giving our order we were told they were out of tartar sauce. Why have fish & chips as a special with no tartar sauce? Plus how hard is it to make or run to the nearest of 2 convenience stores and buy some. Hard to believe they were out of it at 11:40 in the morning with no other patrons. Another co-workers burger came with no tomato and no side of ranch as requested. When the tomato arrived it looked old and dried out. I ordered a bowl of chili which comes with tortilla chips. The chili was nothing like it used to be and the chips were stale. And it took almost 40 minutes to get the food. This is so sad as this used to be a great place to meet friends and co-workers for lunch.
