“Pretty typical”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2014

Ok. So maybe I'm being picky but oftentimes we build up a places reputation from what others are saying. In this case we have heard rave reviews over and over about Wood Grill (WG). It's that reason that my wife and I took the drive to Charlottesville to experience the place and honestly...it's mediocre. Lots of food does not necessarily mean good food. The best of the experience would certainly be the salad bar with just about everything there, (and fresh), that you could imagine. Really good. But the rest of the buffet was pretty typical fare: fried chicken, fried fish, fried shrimp, meatloaf, crab cakes which were not crab meat, ribs, etc. A good selection of breads and desserts. WG is great if you want a lot to eat and are not necessarily concerned about eating healthy or trying something new. The intact of salt left us both panting for water for several hours later. Now I admit, I'm comparing the place to several of the other buffets that are more ethnic focused: King Buffet for instance which to us is a great experience with things you'd never get anywhere else. So again, it's a good place to eat a lot cheaply but we left feeling let down by the whole thing.

“Here's where you can have it all”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2014 credit card Amex Card Member Review

This is kind of a tough place to find. The locals know right where it is, but if you're from out of town, you just may miss it as it sits below the highway. If you see the Courtyard by Marriott sign on the east side of US 29, it's right there. Great choice of all kinds of food, both healthy and great Southern fare. The place is busy so just be prepared if you go at lunch or dinner from 6-7. Casual and you can get in fairly easily.

“Good variety of food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014

The buffet had a good variety of foods including a salad bar, seafood, other home style cooking, & a dessert bar. The atmosphere was family friendly and there was a seating section for large groups. Our server was friendly and attentive.

“Overwhelmed with quantity! Hard to find any quality!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2013 via mobile

Just what you would expect from a "stuff-your-face" kind of place. Load up on run of the mill salads, add a few over cooked veggies, dive in to the very ordinary meat choices, and you have this buffet restaurant. Staff is friendly enough, although customer service training is lacking. If this is # 58, I'd hate to see numbers 200 and above. Do yourself a favor and find yourself a good burger joint.
