“Doesn't Disappoint”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2014

I went to the Nook after taking a campus tour of University of Virginia. There is indoor and outdoor seating, but we chose to sit inside because it was a really hot day. Inside has a basic diner-like feel, with nothing flashy but by no means ugly. The A/C was refreshing at first but as we waited for the food it started to become uncomfortably cold. Not that big of a deal, and working in food service myself I understand that the employees generally like to keep their restaurant cooler because they are running around and working in a hot kitchen. We were taken care of well by the waitress, who was attentive and refilled drinks without us having to ask (a big plus in my book). I got the open faced roast beef sandwich, which came with mashed potatoes and gravy. Overall it was pretty good. A little bit of the roast beef had gotten dry along the edges, but it wasn't like that through the whole sandwich, and the gravy helped to moisten it up again. Portions are good, prices are fair, service is great. Worth the stop.

“Welcome, Tasty Break from sweaty Thomas J”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2014 via mobile

Easily found and parking although tricky was found close to restaurant. Service was a little slow for ordering, our food being checked on ("how is everything?" when we were done eating), and to get our check (asked a random person to get it). The food was very good (two sandwiches/egg's ben/crab cakes). Loved the crab cakes!

“Great breakfast spot on Main Street”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2014

We only visited the Nook for breakfast (on a couple of occasions) but it was good - the corned beef hash was very good in particular. Eggs (in various forms) were well cooked and tasty, and above everything the food arrived promptly on warm plates and was clearly hot and freshly prepared. The only minor gripe was the water for tea wasn't boiling hot. Service on both occasions was good (once sitting outside, once sitting inside at the bar). Would recommend for sure.

“Nice, friendly, easy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2014

We were looking for a nice and quick brunch on Sunday morning before heading to Monticello and this was the right place. Since we were staying at the Omni which is located at the head of this pedestrian mall, we found the Nook to be quite convenient. Although there was a wait for a table on this Sunday late morning, it did not take too long to be called. Our server was prompt, friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and served promptly. And it was a good value.

“Great comfort food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2014

along Charlottesville cool pedestrian mall, old fashioned comfort food with warm, fast service. Highly recommended for those who want a salad or burger with a milkshake.
