I went to the Nook after taking a campus tour of University of Virginia. There is indoor and outdoor seating, but we chose to sit inside because it was a really hot day. Inside has a basic diner-like feel, with nothing flashy but by no means ugly. The A/C was refreshing at first but as we waited for the food it started to become uncomfortably cold. Not that big of a deal, and working in food service myself I understand that the employees generally like to keep their restaurant cooler because they are running around and working in a hot kitchen. We were taken care of well by the waitress, who was attentive and refilled drinks without us having to ask (a big plus in my book). I got the open faced roast beef sandwich, which came with mashed potatoes and gravy. Overall it was pretty good. A little bit of the roast beef had gotten dry along the edges, but it wasn't like that through the whole sandwich, and the gravy helped to moisten it up again. Portions are good, prices are fair, service is great. Worth the stop.
