The patio is lovely ... as long as there is not a train going by. The decor is extremely dated and heavy. The bathroom was pretty dirty - the door to the toilet was sticky and the sink area was messy and the exit door had numerous black sticky areas. No, it was not clean at all. The appetizer was so-so - looked allright, but my knife was so blunt it could not cut through the cheese and the crostini were literally dripping in olive oil, which was off-putting. They also did not provide extra plates even though it was clear my husband and I were sharing the antipasta, and then seemed abrupt when I asked if I might have a fresh bread plate. Both my husband and I each chose one of the specials - he said his was allright, but not his favorite (that is tantamount to saying it wasn't very good in his book ... he is just more polite). My fish was okay but had obviously sat out for a while since there was a piece that closely resembled leather and was inedible. Service was not particulary attentive, and when our waitress did come around, she seemed impatient and abrupt. When you spend over $100 for dinner for two, I definitely expected more (and this was actually the fourth time in as many years that I have eaten there - clearly I need to learn from my past mistakes as previous visits were not any better). For good Italian food, I would rather visit their competitor on Fontaine Avenue. I won't be in a hurry to go back to Vivace.
