“College tour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

My second child, second trip. I actually let my son do the tour while I caught the info session. It is a long tour, over an hour, which I didn't need to repeat. However, it should be noted that each student guide leads about 30-40 people around. They are excellent ambassadors for UVA but that is more like a cattle call. At VA Tech they broke the crowd down into many smaller groups of 8-10. We also had lunch at the student eatery in Newcombe, where the tours start. Fed my jock son at the all-you-can-eat buffet for $13. Bargain.

“Historic campus”

Enjoyed walking around the rotunda and pavillion garden area. Make sure to find Edgar Allen Poe's dorm room.

“Begin at the Rotunda”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

Thomas Jefferson is arguably the greatest mind to have occupied the White House, but to understand him it's more important to visit his creations. None of these reflects more of his interests than his architecture, and nowhere else did Jefferson create an entire academical "village" to reflect the diversity of those ideas.

Begin at the Rotunda, the library of his university; take one of the free tours of the building and/or the Lawn, the UVa "main quad" it commands. As John Adams said on their dying day, "Thomas Jefferson still lives." He was right then and remains right to this day.

“Good student lead tour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

UVA has a very historic beautiful campus that is evident by simply walking the campus. It nice however to take a tour of the campus to gain a more detailed history of the university and it's founding father Thomas Jefferson.
