When I got there the place was on lock down. The police was in full force with shot guns in hand. I was meeting some one there and they were already there in a room so I waited about 1/2 hour before I could get in. After I got in I was told there was a altertation at the check in, thats why the police were there. My friend told me that earlier that day people (not just one person) were spinning ,playing loud music and parting in the parking lot. the rooms wern't in very goodshape. But on the better side of the stay, when I asked the cleaner to change the moldy shower curtin she did. Unless your are going to party I wouldn't stay here.

I was very impressed with this economy hotel. The Inn has been fully remodeled and was very clean and bright. The Hotel staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and were able to help me in finding all the destenations I have to visit in the Charlottesville area. This hotel is a great value for the money.

“Horrid”

Red Carpet Inn Charlottesville

Sep 10, 2008

I landed in this place when the Super 8 down the block mysteriously 'cancelled' my online booking the day before I got there. Red Carpet? Horrid! I literally cried when I realized how awful this place was. From the outside, not too bad. Inside? I stripped the bedspread off and slept in my clothes on top of the sheets. Refused to come in contact with the toilet. Absolutely would not use the tub. There was 'stuff' flung on the walls and never cleaned - who knows what. The bottoms of the drapes were burned! Filthy, scuzzy, disgusting. No other room within an hour of there and I had to stay to work. First bad sign was all the itinerant work crews staying there - their work trucks everywhere - hanging out in the parking lot drinking. They were the least of my worries as they actually were not noisy or disruptive at all. It was the room itself that was the problem. Never again! I would sleep in my rental car over this place any time!!

“Most rooms have now been completely redecorated,”

Red Carpet Inn Charlottesville

Jun 30, 2008

Although this Hotel has had bad reviews in the past, I have stayed many times and never had a problem.
Most of the rooms have now been completely redecorated.-The only criticism I have is the level of lighting!
The staff were genuinely helpful with a couple of problems that I encountered.
The reception staff are always friendly and obliging.
This motel is on route 29 which is the main road through Charlottesville, so the motel is very well placed.
Prices for a stay of 7 days or more are un beatable

I have stayed here a few times because I like the convenient location and the medieval theme of the rooms. The rooms are usually dim and somewhat dirty with minor repairs needed. But on the last occasion I did not get one of the better rooms. There was a hole in the wall the size of someone's fist which I immediately reported to the front desk. He did not seem surprised at all and assured me that it would be all right. The bed was uneven and there was other damage to the walls behind the clothes hangers. It looked like they tried to cover up another hole with some mismatched wallpaper there. The bathroom fan worked well but the tub was not very appealing. I do not doubt that some of the rooms are as bad as described in these reviews, but they are not all absolutely horrible - some may be worse than others. It's a place to stay if you do not require very clean, bright, or clinical conditions. Note: NO internet and no breakfast. Has microwave you can use in the check-in area.
