Where to go, oh, where to go? Hmmm? This one looks good and the cheese plate really looks good. OK, we'll go there. Wandering through town, not quite ready to eat, we stop in and ask about reservations only to find that they don't take them; but, if we're looking for 6:30 it will probably be fine; perhaps, a 10 - 15 minute wait. Surprise! At 6:30, a 45 - 60 minute wait. Well, we really do want to try the cheese plate...
So, off to the bar to have a cocktail and wait. A beer for my wife and a Rusty Nail for me. Oh, forgive me, I must have misspelled - it was "THE MOST WONDERFUL RUSTY NAIL" - amazing - I can still taste it. And the bar staff - excellent! Oh, and my daughter had, in her words, "The best lemonade ever."
Off to the table, ordering the cheese plate while we perused the rest of the menu, hoping it met our expectations. And did it ever - fantastic selection, well presented, overall an excellent start.
Grilled wild boar chops were a bit tough, but the accompanying horseradish mashed potatoes were to die for. Grilled lamb chops were nice. The Pasilla Pepper Glazed Chicken Roulade was magnificent!
Desserts were wonderful and the Virginia Peanut Butter Mousse Torte was heaven; albeit, so rich and filling I was unable to finish.
Next time - multiple cheese plates as we linger over cocktails, perhaps grazing over another shared menu item or two.
