Convenient location on the north side of Charlottesville, with restaurants within walking distance, as well as a supermarket. Our accomodations were clean and the continental breakfast area was also clean and well-ordered. No complaints here.

We stayed at this hotel for one night and were quite pleased with the expierience. Hotel was clean, quiet and the staff was friendly. The breakfast was quite good for being of the continental style. When traveling through the Charlottesville area, we will definately be staying at this Fairfield Inn again. When you stay, be sure to check out the Western Sizzlin Wood Grill Buffet for dinner. It is within walking distance of the hotel and the food is the best buffet style that we have ever had, you will not be dissappointed.

To make a very long story short we stayed at the Marriott for one night. The cost was $103.40 and I paid with a debit card. Two days later I saw that instead of $103.40 being charged it was $310.20!!!! So, I immediatley called the manager who said he would PERSONALLY take care of the situation and reverse the charges. A day later I check my online statement only to find yet another charge of $206.80 on my account. Now we were up to $517.00 in UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES to my debit card. I again called the manager who had no idea they had charged my card again....he had no answers except he would reverse the charges.....Which takes about 3-4 business days. MEANWHILE my checking account is now overdrafted! So, two more days later I review my account and see that in fact they had refunded the $517.00 to my checking account. Then, I also see ANOTHER CHARGE for $206.80.NO I'M NOT KIDDING! So, I still sit here a week later and waiting for another reimbursement. I have had to freeze my account so no more checks would overdraft and I am waiting 7-10 days for a new Check Card! THIS IS VERY SCARY~NEVER AGAIN!

I stayed at both the English Inn and this one during my time in Charlottesville. This hotel is newer, and a bit further away from UVA, but it's still close to the major shopping mall (it's just off of Rte 29, which is the main thoroughfare through town).

Overall, the room was spacious and clean and bright -- it did have some sort of a weird smell when I walked in though, so I turned on the air to get air circulating. I do agree with the previous poster that the air-conditioning unit was too loud - I had to keep it on "low" and reduce the temperature settings so that it wasn't blasting the whole time.

I liked the staff, who were friendly and courteous, even though it was a busy time for them (Friday).

And yes, it's right next door to a supermarket and Applebee's, which is convenient if you're tired from traveling all day long.

The weekday and weekend prices were not outrageous compared to the other hotels of similar quality in town (I called around to TONS of places), and they do accept AAA discounts. Overall, I would recommend this place and would stay there again.
