“Non-history-buffs... still blown away!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

We arrived with a little baby to disrupt the tour... and they kindly gave us a private tour instead! Wonderful tour-guide and very interesting... great stop!

“How can you not love TJ's home?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

A must see if you are in Charlottesville. The house and gardens are spectacular and the history fascinating. It is fun to park at the bottom of the mountain and walk up via a boardwalk that has been installed. It is 2 miles, but a gradual up hill climb easy for even the smallest of tots or older individuals. Gorgeous in the fall.

“Good, not great.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

Monticello is a beautiful property, but the house is small and not much to see. If you are a die-hard Jefferson fan, this is the adventure for you- otherwise, you could pass on seeing it and spend your time doing other things in town.

“Extraordinary Historical Perspective”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

The guides were so knowledgable down to the smallest detail of Jefferson's life and home. I was surprised, however, that there was almost no mention of his botanical work or his studies as a Landscape Architect. Someone in our group asked which, if any, of the large old trees at the house were original and the guide didn't have any answer. Knowledge of the structure and life at Monticello though was expectional.

“Very Interesting Historical Site”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

We really enjoyed Monticello. The property is amazing and there are a lot of things to see, so allow plenty of time. The building is great and Thomas Jefferson was way ahead of his time. The gardens are huge and really laid out well. We had a great time.
