“Very good choice - for a full-service hotel in Charlottesville”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2010

Charlottesville has a number of B&Bs - but if looking for advantages of more full-serive hotel, Omni offers the advantages: flexible breakfast hours, room-service, 24 hour front-desk, and in-town location within walking distance of many destinations.

Plus, the Omni-select-guest program is one of the best in the business: it includes delivery to-the-room of a fruit juice or other beverage and it is possible to add items to this service at modest cost.

If more is wanted to eat, the downstairs breakfast buffet is excellent -- offering custom, made-to-order omelets.

Omni/Charlottesville has a friendly, helpful front-desk -- providing directions and assistance for a range of requests.

Nice hotel - friendly service - and convenient location !

This was our 2nd stay within a year at the Omni.

They are located right on the downtown mall but happily they don't overcharge.

The rooms are updated, clean, and spacious. We stayed in room 713 and the closet was huge.

In the AM there is complementary Starbucks coffee in the lobby.

They have a very warm indoor pool, nice hot tub (not too hot for young ones), clean locker rooms and a decent cardio/strength room.

The only draw back in the low ceiling in the gym. I am 6 foot 4 and wasn't able to run on the treadmill because my head hit the ceiling. So i did the stationary bike. After finished up I did notice a 3rd treadmill under a higher ceiling, but the clearance would have been 1 inch. Too close.

We love Charlosttesville and will return and the Omni is where we will be.

Keep up the excellent work.

We stayed for three nights after Christmas last year. The hotel's location is ideal for exploring Charlottesville and enjoying the downtown district. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful. Our room was comfortable and well appointed. The Select Guest benefits were great, as always. We even received a personal note upon arrival.

The fitness room was small but had everything you need for a workout. The pool area was lovely and made us wish it was warm enough to enjoy the outside terrace. We enjoyed lunch in the restaurant and the prices were quite reasonable.

As others have mentioned, the bathrooms are incredibly small. I suppose they can't do much about it but it remains the one drawback.

I travel often for both business and pleasure. This Omni Hotel is great for both. Why am I a fan?-They treat me like I own the place. They have a friendly competent staff and a great design with comfortable rooms. I also love the location, at one end of their downtown pedestrian mall-many restaurants from Mediterranean to Italian, world class sushi, sea food fushion whatever and all the other labels of cuisine including great American food. There are also live music clubs, concert venues and shopping.

Great location, restaurant is refreshingly great, staff treated us like family, even sent up complimentary chocolate chip cookies and milk. This is the only place to stay if you want to be able to walk out the door and be right in the downtown district of Charlottesville, its a cute area full of shops and restaurants and coffee shops - very college style fun. Visit Charlottesville to relax and have fun and stay at The Omni!

We spent three midweek nights here, and found the hotel to be very good---but with a few issues. First of all, the location on the end of the downtown pedestrian mall is fantastic. You are within walking distance of a myriad of excellent restaurants, as well as lots of shops, clubs, a theater, etc. This alone is reason to stay here. The staff (mostly young) are very friendly and proactive. Other pluses are free covered parking, an excellent fitness room, indoor pool (small), contemporary open lobby, glass elevators and nice, quiet rooms. There are several places on the mall where you can get a good breakfast which is much cheaper than the hotel's restaurant.

There were a few issues with the room. The bathroom is well furnished, but is incredibly small for a luxury property (if you open the door, it comes literally within an inch or two of the toilet). There are too many thick covers on the beds, so you end up throwing them off, or you would burn up. The most significant issue we had was the cable TV situation. The hotel has nice flat screen TV's, but we never could get ABC and a few other stations, and the channel numbers were not in sync with the numbers on the card in the room (so finding a station was a matter of trial and error). There was no HBO or other premium channel---once again a little strange for a luxury property. But even with these issues, we would stay here again because of the location and other positive features.

Great location, great service, great breakfast!

This was our first trip to Charlottesville and we had an excellent time, thanks in part to the excellent location and staff at this hotel. It was convenient for walking the mall and centrally located so we could hit other hot spots in town. Parking was free-- easy come, easy go as needed. Join the Omni Select Guest club and you'll get free internet.

We ate breakfast one morning at the hotel and it was very tasty and reasonably priced for a hotel. The dinner menu was a bit too eclectic for us but the concierge was more than willing to recommend some places within walking distance.

We traveled with a baby-- our first trip as a family-- and the staff was accommodating in every way possible. That said, it's definitely geared towards the business or upscale traveler but we still felt welcome.
