“OK, but nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2012

The hotel was good for one night at a Hotwire price; but if I had paid their normal online rate, I would have been disappointed. I have no major complaint...the place is just average.

It seemed that the hotel has been updated some and has quiet rooms on the back side of the building away from the street. There was a microwave & refridgerator in the room. The beds were firmer than I prefer. For breakfast I ordered & enjoyed a Charlottesville Omelet in the Hotel Restaurant. I would have preferred that the sliding glass door handle lock would have locked the door closed, instead it did have a security door block that allowed the sliding door to only open 4 inches. Also, the bathtub caulk and cleanliness around the tile could have been improved. This is a larger 7 floor hotel and they had value oriented rates.

Room Tip: Room on the back side of hotel was very quiet and had nice afternoon sun through the trees. The fron...

This hotel has a great lobby but the rooms are just average. They are starting to look a bit worn. The guestbook is very outdated in the room. Probably created the last time they updated the hotel and not since. Many things are wrong in the book, don't depend on it for information. I had a room near the housekeeping station which means there was lots of loud talking in the morning and you had to navigate around several housekeeping carts to get to the elevator. Exercise room was dirty and water was everywhere. Like I said - Average. The staff was polite & welcoming.

There are several newer hotels within a few miles of this one. If you are driving, check out the other hotels for prices, etc. That's what I will do next time for sure.

A buffet breakfast is an additional cost but on site. Very basic food for $11.00+ per person. Only did that one day. Go to the Kroger across the street and buy breakfast foods you can microwave or keep cool in the in-room fridge. That was a plus (having the micro & fridge.) They do provide shuttle service to/from airport so that is a help if you don't want to rent a car. Plenty of restaurants in the area. If you do have a car, you have many more options for meals.

Room Tip: Go for a room above the lobby (level 4 or higher.) Our room overlooked the deck of the house nearby...

Can't fault this hotel at all. We were lucky to be allocated what I believe to be an executive room which had obviously been recently refurbished. A small problem with TV reception was dealt with very promptly and the staff on reception were very friendly and helpful too. thoroughly enjoyed our brief one night stay.

We were here for the graduation of University of Virginia. Location is easy to go anywhere around UVA. It was good to enjoy foods around hotel such as Bodos Bagel and Indian cuisine, Milan.
Hotel is generally clean and nice.

The Holiday Inn in Charlottesville is about what you expect if you have stayed at Holiday Inn before. Everything is reasonably clean, the finishes have been updated within the last 5 years or so I would guess, the service is fine. The location is off of a major street near the University, but not really walking distance to anything other than strip malls. That said, the value was very good for the price. I would stay there again, but probably not look forward to it that much.

Room Tip: Mostly views of the parking lot, which is nice if you want to be close to your car

My husband and I stayed here while visiting our son. I was a little nervous based on some of the previous reviews, but our room was excellent - large, clean and perfectly comfortable. The hotel front desk staff were very friendly and helpful and the complimentary breakfast was good. The server was excellent. We had an enjoyable stay and will come back and stay again. Thanks Holiday Inn.

Room Tip: We stayed on the main lobby level and it was great.
