“This is the place.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2014

Excellent staff, good location, fair prices, nice restaurant, clean and nice rooms, quiet, everything worked as it should. Yes, I would stay here again without hesitation. One of the big issues I have with hotels and motels are the noisey and inefficient AC units. This one had very quiet units with a wall thermostat that actually worked.

Charlottesville has some amazingly fabulous hotels - this one is average. Dog friendly which always makes me feel queasy - cleaners do a great job to minimise dog presence. Location is fine if you have a car - too far to walk anywhere - we just took a cab back to UVA and Downtown. Thankfully it has a great restaurant. Rooms are a great size. Bed and linen were fabulous - king size and very comfy. Staff very welcoming. Laundry facilities were a welcome extra for us.

Room Tip: Front rooms don't have a view of the car park and motorway.

Hi Annabel B,
We are ecstatic that you enjoyed dining in our restaurant and our comfy beds. Thanks for noticing the care we take in clean our rooms too. You are correct, we would recommend a car for getting around Charlottesville as some of our historic site are a short drive from the center city. We hope to see you again soon.

This hotel is conveniently located to I-64. We stayed 2 nights on the second floor. The hotel was clean, had been renovated recently. There was a huge glass shower in the bathroom and the entire rome seemed brand new complete with granite. The pool looked clean and refreshing even though we did not use it. It is conveniently located yo historic sites and university of Virginia. We would ditsy here again.

Booked this hotel for a 2-nights stay. Given other reviews on Tripadvisor, we weren't expecting much. But for the last minute bargain (about 50% of regular rate), we decided we can tough it out for 2 nights.

Check-in was a breeze, as the reservation had been paid. We had a room on 4th floor at the southeast side of the building, on the other side of I-64 and it had a decent view of trees and hills. The location of our room made it very quiet during our stay, and we didn't even have to close the shades. The room was clean and overall impression was good. It appeared to have been renonvated within the last couple of years, as furnitures, doors, decors, and bathroom fixtures have a modernist style/element to them. Add to our surprise there was a mini-fridge in the room, which we took full advantage of.

The mattress was comfortable, but should be replace as it had indentations at edges where people tend to sit on. Mattress springs make the funniest creaking noise when you first sat on them, but remained quiet when you lay down and spread your body weight. The sheets and comforter were soft and comfy and we had 2 good nights' sleep. We only noticed there was a hole at one corner on the comfortable on the morning of departure. No a deal breaker, but attention to details sets apart the good from the great.

Housekeepping was better/more efficient than some of bigger 4-star hotels we've stayed at. We left around 9am and came back at 4:30pm and the room had already been refreshed with bed tucked in and fresh towels and toiletteries provided.

Charlottesville is not a big town. The hotel's location right off I-64 provided easy access to Monticello and surrounding vineyards. The main street in front of hotel leads straight to C'ville's historic downtown area and UVA, which is only a 5-minutes drive away. Given the close proximity of downtown and choices of local restaurants, we did not try the restaurant on property.

We would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends and family who are visiting Charlottesville, and would stay here again as well.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms on south side, away from I-64.

I stayed one night here amd the room is just what you might expect froma Holiday Inn. It was clean and bes were comfortable. The TV had plenty of channels and the bathroom had the usual soaps, shampoo, lotions. The front desk staff was great. They helped me out with a couple of things and made the stay pleasant.
The restaurant was quite a letdown. The food was just alright (simply bacon and eggs) but it took 32 minutes to get the food served once the order was placed. I don't know what the hold up was, but other folks seem to have the same experience. I have an idea the kitchen is understaffed. If I stay there again, I will probably just go to the Waffle House down the street for breakfast.

Nothing special about this Holiday Inn. Good clean hotel. The winner here is the staff. Tana and the rest of the front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Especially when using the business center. Saved the day.
