“Excellent experience. The Inn was beautiful and the service wonderful. I highly recommend it for meetings and vacations.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

The Inn was beautiful and the service wonderful. We were there for a conference and extended our stay for family time. The service and meals were excellent for the conference. I had a wonderful breakfast in the Old Mill room and then enjoyed a morning walk on the grounds. There is a fair amount of activity by staff in those early hours, but it's not disruptive. My husband enjoyed a massage at the spa, where his particular troublesome areas were tended to. I look forward to coming back.

Room Tip: Our handicapped-accessible room was very nice.

I thought it was a nice hotel, the reception is nice, but the rooms are very noisy, uncomfortable pillow, there is no bar fridge. When we have entered in the room there was a derty glass in the table. The room was not worth the price. Big disappointment.

Pretty grounds, historic setting, the Boars Head was a nice overnight while driving from the Blue Ridge Mountains to Baltimore. They thoughtfully provided chocolate covered strawberries for our anniversary and some sweet treats for our Son's birthday. The pools were average, but worked for a dip for the kids. Fishing on the ground's ponds was a fun activity before hitting the road. The room was recently renovated so it felt fresh, albeit small. All in all, it had more character and charm than a hotel chain for a quick stay. If I could give it a 3.5 I would.

Lovely old style country hotel with lovely grounds. Rooms are larger and better appointed than hallways suggest. Old Mill restaurant & pub room serve excellent fare. A little out of the way but worth it. Quiet and charming. Tennis, spa, & weight room if interested. Golf nearby.

Room Tip: Handicapped accessibility & parking not the best. Small elevator in main building, may be a whee...

Fantastic facility. Allow enough time in your schedule to be able to enjoy this beautiful property. I did not do this and wish I had allowed one day to just relax, stay on the property, walk around, swim, exercise, etc. Room was very spacious and neat. Don't let the hallways scare you. Eat at the Old Mill Restaurant for breakfast or dinner. I hope to return because I was very pleased with everything.

Room Tip: Book early if you are around a holiday.

My husband and I just spent a weekend at the Boar's Head Inn as part of a reunion (group stay). We have stayed in a variety of hotels throughout Charlottesville, both luxury and budget. We were excited to go to the Boar's Head and heard good things about the main building - which sadly we did not stay in.

We stayed in what I refer to as the "annex" to the hotel - the Ednam building. This building is in need of a major renovation from top to bottom. Our room was located on the 3rd floor, and not easily accessible from the elevator - unless you wanted to walk the length of two separate buildings. This was not a huge problem for us, but I can imagine the difficulty a family with children would have or anyone with difficulty on stairs. Our room, while a good size, was incredibly damp and humid the entire weekend - despite setting the air conditioning on a cool 68. Our clothing, papers and towels felt damp the entire visit. We spent only short periods of time in the room, so didn't request a new room (we should have). The bathroom was partially updated and had some nice fixtures, but the towels were stained and scratchy at best. For the amenities, the hotel offers complimentary coffee in the morning and afternoon, but given our location in the "annex", a walk for coffee was quite a trek. The rooms in the annex also cannot seem to locate the wireless signal (maybe it is based in the main building). The sports club was located near the Endam building, and a good size, but again, woefully out of date.

Overall, this hotel is in major need of renovation, and is not worth the large price tag. I cannot speak to the quality of the "main" building, but imagine it is better than the annex. Even with a reduced rate for a group stay, we left disappointed and will not return.

Room Tip: Do not stay in the Endam Building. If you cannot stay in the main building - go elsewhere. Avoid a...

The Boar's Head is full service - excellent food at the Old Mill Restaurant including wonderful brunches and very tasty a la carte entrees for dinner. Gracious service.

The exercise facilities are outstanding - as good as any club you belong to - free weights, cardio equipment (including ergometers!), and stretching areas. They also offer classes in spinning and pilates.

The setting is awesome - small lake and wooded surroundings. Peaceful and set apart, but not far from town. Highly recommended.
