“Interesting course”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012

I have only played this course once but enjoyed the challenges it provides (there are a number of courses closer to where I live and that is why I have not played here more than once). The golf club is well run and the fairways and greens were in good shape. This was one of the few times that the starter went in to depth about the course and rules and even demonstrated the correct way to fix a ball dent on the green. Even though I have played it only once, I will go back when the opportunity arises.

“A spontaneous game”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012 via mobile

Out of pure impulse a buddy and I decided to play here and I have to admit that we were pleasantly surprised. We had a real good time and the course offered a real sense of tranquility. There were more divot holes than expected but it has rained quite heavy in recent days. I would definitely play here again and hopefully soon.

The staff seamed very pleasant and other players were very patient as well.

“Good land, mediocre conditions”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012

I played Pleasant Valley last week. The land is rolling and well used in the course design. I was surprised, however, by the number of ball marks on greens and unfilled divots in the fairways. In fact, I played a municipal course in Maryland the same week. It was much busier than Pleasant Valley and in better condition. If players can't be convinced to repair the course when they make divots and ball marks, then the course must maintain it by other means.

“A gem in the making”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2012

This public golf course is owned by Fairfax County, VA but is being improved and maintained by golf savvy's. the course is quite decent now, but the fairways and greens should be top class in another year or two. Course length runs from 5100 for the Red to 6900 for the Gold.

The course runs through some sort of marsh preserve, allowing lots of birds and small wildlife in abundance. This also makes for a lovely, flat course. In case you might get the idea that this course might, therefore, be easy, forget it. The more level terrain does not detract from the difficulty. Why? The answer is sand and lots of it. Fine, white sand traps are abundant and strategically placed; much time was spent with wedge in hand.

Blissfully quiet electric carts sped us through the course. Each cart is equipped with very accurate GPS,making club selection easy, since we knew exactly how far we always were to the green. Carts are also equipped with one's own ball and club scrubber. Plenty of drinking water along the entire course.

A very pleasant day on what is fast becoming a very well maintained 18 hole course.
