This public golf course is owned by Fairfax County, VA but is being improved and maintained by golf savvy's. the course is quite decent now, but the fairways and greens should be top class in another year or two. Course length runs from 5100 for the Red to 6900 for the Gold.
The course runs through some sort of marsh preserve, allowing lots of birds and small wildlife in abundance. This also makes for a lovely, flat course. In case you might get the idea that this course might, therefore, be easy, forget it. The more level terrain does not detract from the difficulty. Why? The answer is sand and lots of it. Fine, white sand traps are abundant and strategically placed; much time was spent with wedge in hand.
Blissfully quiet electric carts sped us through the course. Each cart is equipped with very accurate GPS,making club selection easy, since we knew exactly how far we always were to the green. Carts are also equipped with one's own ball and club scrubber. Plenty of drinking water along the entire course.
A very pleasant day on what is fast becoming a very well maintained 18 hole course.
