“Outstanding!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

This is a great attraction for the entire family, and especially for aviation fans, with exhibits ranging from early aircraft up to the space shuttle. Done right, a visit to the Udvar-Hazy Center will take several hours. Admission is free, but there is a $20 parking fee. It is also located near the Sully Plantation, so the family can make a day of it without having to drive out of the way. Both venues are located on Route 28, a major transportation route in the region. Chantilly is also just a short drive from the Manassas National Battlefield Park.

“Great place all year round”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Udvar-Hazy is a frequent trip for my family. There always seems to be something new or something changing. The museum is never exactly the same twice. The docents are outstanding! If you're lucky, like we have been a number of times, you'll find a docent that is just hanging out. Ask them a question, listen with interest, and the next thing you know they'll be leading you around on a private tour. My three year old is fascinated by their stories and loves to ask them questions. They are always patient in answer the typical three year old question, "Why?"

“Must See! Free parking after 4:00 - Open till 5:00”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Being able to walk around the aircraft so up close is amazing. You can't touch them or walk under then, but you get pretty darn close. The space shuttle sighting is surreal, as well as the Air France Concord and the Enola Gay. It's great for kids because of the wide open space of being inside the hanger among the planes. If you have time for extended stay, go see a movie in the iMAX theater, and spend the time in line to go up into the tower and see the planes coming in for landing at Dulles. On a clear day, the views are amazing. If you go after 4:00, the parking is free (pay $12 or $15 per carload), no admission, but you won't have time for the movies, maybe the tower and most of the planes.

“A Must See for All”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Although there is no admission fee, you must use the paid parking lot, so come prepared for this expense. Once inside, the exhibits which outline the US role in air and space exploration will amaze you. The feature exhibit is the Space Shuttle Discovery. You must see a shuttle in person to fully understand the enormous feat that was required to built, launch, fly and land this type of aircraft. Be sure to visit the center tower, where you listen to live air traffic controllers monitoring landings for inbound and outgoing flights from Dulles International Airport. Depending on the wind, landings may occur on the runway right in front of you. The Udvar-Hazy Center is a must see when visiting the Washington, DC area.

“Excellent Adventore for the Family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Have been raised in the Air Force and then serving in the Marine Corps, I have had the opportunity to visit a majority of the Air and Space Exhibits across the US. The Steven F Udvar-Hazy Center ranks among the top two. It is a great adventure for the entire family.
