“A must see for all space and aviation nuts!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2013

This is an amazing museum! The breadth and quality of the displays are truly amazing. (Mind you if you are not into aviation it may be a trifle boring! Be warned!). I am so I absolutely loved it. There are so many history making items on display that it is almost impossible to pick highlights. Every corner you turn reveals yet another first class display.
You are not only shown the item, but you are also given a depth of information about its place in history. Added to this are the volunteers that wander around the building giving added commentary and detail. I would recommend that you get there early as the place gets very very busy!

“Exciting display of planes and even gliders?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013

We had a great day at this museum. It does need at least half a day to really enjoy it. The docents are very knowledgeable and very happy to help out with info, directions etc. It has a much calmer atmosphere than the Aerospace museum in DC itself although you must go to the latter to see the headline items such as Apollo 11 module, the Spirit of St Louis, and Wright brothers display.

Practical notes: the museum is free but parking is a cheeky $15, card or cash.

Unless you want McDonalds there is no catering however there are plenty benches just outside where you can eat a picnic. Just avoid the first two or three benches by the door as that is where smokers indulge in their habit. Unless you enjoy eating in a fog of cigarette smoke of course.

“Awesome Aircraft!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

I went to the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center Air and Space Museum because I've always wanted to see the Concorde up close! I was not disappointed! This museum has an unbelievable number of aircraft from military to commercial to the smaller helicopters! It did not disappoint! The space shuttle Discovery was another highlight of this visit! A person could spend all day in here reading about the different aircraft. It is easily accessible to handicapped people, and you can get many different views of the various aircraft...the walkways are on different levels for viewing inside many of the planes! I will definitely visit this museum again and spend more time. We were there for approximately 2 1/2 hours and still did not see everything. You can also eat there, but the only place we found was a McDonald's. The gift shop is nice, too. It is free admission, but it cost $15 for parking.

“Simply awesome awesomeness”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

This place out at Dulles Airport where you can see the Space Shuttle, the Concorde, the Enola Gay, the SR-71 Blackbird, all in air-conditioned comfort is simply awesome awesomeness. Its just amazing. You can also see planes landing and taking off from Dulles, while listening to traffic-control live. And you can watch the experts doing the restoration work in the hangars. It is just freaking amazing.
