Of course the Smithsonian exhibit is awesome, but I'd skip the control tower 'tour' next time especially if there is a line. They move people up and down very slowly and there's not much to see. The guy talking about the air traffic controllers looping recording is ok and the view is ok, although not much to see but woods and an occasional plane landing at Dulles.
The rest of the museum is awesome, combine this with the original museum in DC and you've got air and space covered.
Museum is free but parking is $15. So carpool if you can.
