“Interesting enough”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012 via mobile

One of the newer museums in NoVa, close to Dulles airport, so you will need a car to get there. Lots of interesting vintage planes -- space shuttle, Concorde, all very impressive, but the observation tower was disappointing. Long line to the elevator and small deck. McDonalds conveniently located inside museum. Good family outing.

“Best display of aircraft anywhere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012 via mobile

The Smithsonian in DC has great exhibits and information about the history of air and space.

But if you love the machines themselves, this is the place to go. SR71, Discovery and a Concorde were the highlights for me.

Free admission is always a bonus. Only downside is it's out near Dulles airport, and quite a distance.

“Discovery reaches new heights”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

It is difficult to describe what it is like to stand beside a Space Shuttle and there are few places where you can actually do it. This extension of the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum is nothing short of spectacular. Not only does it house the Space Shuttle Discovery, it also houses the Enola Gay, a Concorde Supersonic jet, and hundreds of other aircraft and memorabilia. The museum is free, but there is a $15 parking fee which is refundable if you are there less than 30 minutes meaning if someone can just drop you off you can save a little money. However, it is difficult to get this kind of experience for $15 anywhere!

“Great experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

The aircraft, if that's a correct title, are amazing. Seeing planes, spacecraft and just walking around is worth the trip.
