“Perfection! Great for Anyone Wanting to Get Away and Enjoy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

My daughter and I had a wonderful, special overnight at this stunning Inn. Besides two perfect massages at the Spa, we enjoyed an excellent dinner at the Manor House of Poplar Springs. Polly Cutting, the Inn manager, could NOT be nicer. Continental Breakfast is served in the Inn's lovely living room. Nanci, our waitress at dinner, was especially delightful. My massage with April was one of the best. The whole experience was wonderful. We topped it off by a quick trip to Warrenton, which is great for shopping, browsing around, and having a quick bite for lunch before returning to DC.

Poplar Springs Inn and Spa provides fantastic customer service with their spa packages and hotel accommodations. Both the spa and hotel room had soft terry cloth robes (not those heavy bulky robes at other resorts), and comfortable YeahBaby spa sandals in the locker room and hotel closet (sized for both men and women). Our room had a large shower with great shower pressure and a temperature gauge for a really hot shower! The continental breakfast was great - fresh large croissants and muffins, a wonderful fruit assortment (lots of berries) and good selection of juices. The room included DirecTV (over limited cable at most resorts), and nice turndown service, and a hand-written welcome note from the hotel manager. They had a nice wine-tasting on Saturday night, which we really enjoyed. We had lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch at the Manor House, and thoroughly enjoyed the menu and ambience of the beautiful Manor House dining room. As locals, we'll definitely visit again and recommend to friends.

So for Valentine's Weekend we decided we wanted to do something different. We were referred to Poplar Springs from someone who used to go before the new owners took over. We did the entire experience at Poplar Springs.

1. We did the Spa Package, Starting at $399 This deal was not given due to the Holiday weekend, but they were very accommodating to us and allow us to use this package during our stay.

2. This is beautiful venue, we loved the feeling we got from arriving. The room itself was okay. We got the handicap room, so we had no tub or anything. It was just an open bathroom like you see at the gym. The room was clean itself, however we did have an issue with the thermostat. We set it to well over 90degrees and it stayed at 60degrees the entire night. No one was at the front desk when we went to say something. So in the morning they took 50% off our room itself.

3. The Complimentary Breakfast, is not what you may think it is. It's just juice, coffee, fruits, muffins, and cold bagels. Which stays out for like 4-5 hours? Luckily since we didn't sleep at all due to our room, we got them as fresh it could be.

4. We went to The Manor House for the Valentine's Dinner. It was okay. I got the prime rib with mashed potatoes. The prime rib was amazing, but mashed potatoes were so bland you could've just done without it. My fiancé got the salmon and risotto. The salmon was so undercooked, it was literally raw, I understand under cooking it but that was way undercooked. The risotto was phenomenal. The bread they serve as appetizers were amazing. The Manor House ambiance was beautiful, loved the stone walls and candles everywhere. Service was difficult to get a hold of. We did feel just because we were so young, we weren't as acknowledged. We weren't recommended to try or experience anything from the server. So we just stuck with simple. We truthfully just filled up on bread because we weren't pleased with our food.

5. The SPA WAS PHENOMENAL. We highly recommend this. We did the couples massage and facial, and it was just amazing. An experience you really can't get anywhere else. We loved the service in the spa, the cleanliness, the experience, the people, etc. The Spa sealed this rating for Poplar Springs. If it wasn't for the Spa I would've rated this place 1-2 stars. If I could rate the Spa alone, they would receive 5!

6. Poplar Springs has great service, they try to accommodate you and are truly concerned when your unsatisfied. Due to this experience, we don't believe we would come back here, unless it was just to experience the Spa and not the Inn or Manor House. Sad part we did come here to see if this would be a great wedding venue for us. They had a beautiful setting for a wedding, and the scenery is amazing. However, the fact the room and food was the downfall it pushed us away to saying no. But we will definitely come back for the Spa!

What a great night we experienced at Poplar Springs Restaurant. The atmosphere was phenomenal and the food was great. The best part though was the server we had as he made the experience perfect. Cody was on top of everything and so attentive the entire time we were there! We could tell how busy he was but he always seemed to make an effort to see how we were and if he could do anything else to make our night better. This was our first time at this Restaurant and he along with the great food and atmosphere gave us a reason to come back. Aside from it being a little off the map and hard to find, we could not complain about the night.

My hubby and I celebrated Valentine's day at Poplar Springs. We loved that is was a quick getaway from the city and appeared to be a very charming and quiet location. The buildings were lovely and the service was great. The inn also provided a complimentary horse drawn carriage to the restaurant. Such a nice surprise! That said, there were several things we couldn't overlook. Our room was really dirty. There was mold in the shower, trash under the bed, and several things in need of repair. We really wanted to love this place but it fell very short. Also, the restaurant was incredibly beautiful and romantic but the food was awful. At $40+ per entree, we were hoping for better. With a few changes, this place has the potential to be awesome. For now, it was just ok.

We were so sad when they closed but happy when they reopened. We decided we would wait a number of months to get the bugs out. We think it's better then before, the staff was ultra attentive, the kitchen is better then under the previous management and the spa was wonderful. So stop reading this and go delve into the wonderful experience that awaits you.

I highly recommend experiencing Poplar Springs Inn & Spa and The Manor House restaurant. I bought a night away as a Christmas gift for my husband and we had the best time. Words will never fully describe the incredible food and service we received. Upon our arrival, Joe was wonderfully welcoming and the evening wine and cheese perfect. We then moved over to The Manor House restaurant where Kenneth and Maggie are incredibly talented with food and flavors. We loved Taylor, the bartender, and his signature cocktails. Charles the General Manager and Mike the server also provided excellent customer service. We had the best night and will definitely be back!!!!
