Our last trip was our third stay at the Rittenhouse and a truly enjoyable experience. I'll start by saying if you are looking for all the amenities along with modern stylings, this motel is not for you. This is a motel owned by Bob Rittenhouse since the fifties (his family cleared the trees to build the place) and it still looks of that era. But it's clean and has been well maintained.
What sets this place apart from just any roadside motor lodge is the grounds. We spend the morning touring Bob's various vegitations and pathways over creeks and various plant life. If you're interested in life on the eastern shore, pull up a chair on the porch and listen to what life is like on this bucolic strip of land.
It's not for everyone, but if you long for those days of road travel and rustic motels to spend the night, this place is perfect. We truly enjoy this place.
