The folks at the James River House appreciate the history of Buchanan, the western terminus of the old James River and Kanawha Canal. They can point one to the remains of the canal basin and the locks on the river. As you can tell from their web site, they also arrange kayak and canoe trips on the river. The rooms and public area of the Inn are quite comfortable and the price more than reasonable. Note that it is not a Bed & Breakfast, but they do have coffee and the Fountain at the drug store down the block serves a good breakfast.
