This is one of those older style motels from the 50's that I usually am leery of. But I checked the reviews before calling. Stayed there one night last week and was very happy with it. It sits up real high on a hillside with front door views of the Blue Ridge mountains that are gorgeous. Each room faces the front with old fashioned chairs outside. Room was large with open beamed ceiling. Bathroom was tiny but spotless, the old ceramic tile style. A lot of day hikers on Appalachian trail were staying there, one older couple for the whole week. No breakfast but there is a coffee maker and mini fridge. Restaurant 1/2 way down the hill, not too impressed with dinner but it was OK. Not much else at this exit on 81 - a gas station. The motel has a nice pool (not open yet for the season). I would stay here again in the summer and use the pool. The view alone is worth the price. Reasonable rates under $75/night this time of year.
