If anyone has been reading all the reviews and thinking, there is no way there can be a place that is given 5 stars by everyone,...visit Thistle Ridge Bed and Breakfast and you will be proven wrong!
I can not begin to say enough about this place. Scott and Dixie have truly found their niche. The room was immaculately clean and incredibly welcoming. The first night was rainy so we ducked over to the main house and fixed ourselves a pot of tea to take back to our room to have with our chocolate chip cookies delivered by Dixie. Afterwards we enjoyed a wonderful bath in an extra large tub...we felt like royalty!
In the morning we awoke to a freshly cooked breakfast and warm smiles from Scott and Dixie. The food was delicious and comforting, and the view from the breakfast nook was peaceful and beautiful. We unfortunately did not do the wine tour due to our own plans, but we will be sure to take them up on it next time we visit. At the end our second day we returned around 6pm, changed into our pjs, and cozy-ed up on the couch in the main house. We drank cup after cup of hot tea while reading books from their library. Scott came by to check on and us and chat, and delivered a tray of ice water and brownie bites...to die for! Afterwards we went back to our room, started a fire, and watched a movie borrowed from the collection at the main house. We fell fast asleep in the luscious king bed.
Our final day, we awoke to yet another wonderful home cooked breakfast, had another bath (taking baths in my own tiny tub will now always feel inadequate!), and bought a bottle of port to bring back for our dog sitter.
There was so much care and thought that went into every detail of our stay at the Thistle Ridge. We felt as if time had stopped and we had been transported to a simpler time...true relaxation. The weekend was exactly what we needed, and we can not wait to go back in the Fall. We plan on making it our home away from home!
