“Breaks Interstate Park”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

I cant find fault with the scenery at Breaks. Its beautiful. Whats not so beautiful is the bath houses. We saw "A" bathhouse and "D" bathhouse. They were both sad. The water drips or runs from numerous faucets. The toilets rock on the floor. One had what I called a water hazard at the base. The shower faucets run a while then stop. One of The shower drains in "D" was stopped up.There is a container on the wall for liquid soap but its empty. Some of the stall doors are difficult to lock AND unlock. The maintenance room in both bath houses was unlocked and looked like something fit for halloween. It would be bad if a child was to wander into these maintenance rooms as the electric panels are uncovered and are down right dangerous.
Throughout the park water drips or runs incessantly from numerous faucets.
I am going to try emailing VA and Ky parks dept. The bulk of the park is in Va.

“Beautiful park, a true gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2012

Have stayed here three times, both in the off-season. There is a restaurant in the lodge with basic fare for a reasonable price. Wi-fi apparently is available in the lodge and visitor's center, but I was unable to connect. The rooms are no frills, each with a porch, and if you're lucky, a view of the breaks. Walking trails and observation points. The park recently expanded and remodeled the swimming pool; now a water park of sorts. There is an amphitheater, though I'm not sure how often productions are through the area. Just a great place to stay for a few days. Definitely in nature.

“Bath House is DISGUSTING”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

We had a great weekend camping @ the Breaks Interstate Park, but the bath house in Campground A was so nasty!! Tried to email the park, but the email is kicked back to me undelieverable....I would highly recommend the park, the campground, but make sure that you bring your own shower & toilet. Overlooks and park itself was beautiful and I would definitly stay there again, but we will set up our own shower next time :(

“Worth the drive!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012 via mobile

We only spent about 40 minutes in the park on a quick tour through SWVA, but Breaks was awesome. Definitely take the time to drive in here (we came from the Haysi, VA side)! Stop at the overlooks and hike down a short ways to take in the awesome view! We went to the state line overlook and got there just as a train was traveling through below, so we got to watch it pass through the tunnel. Very cool. You can see for miles and the mountains were particularly beautiful on the day we visited. Unfortunately, you can see where they are also strip mining in the distance, but I won't make this post political. Lol. We rode through the park and it looked like there would be plenty to do there. Big pool, paddle boats, various hiking trails, eating, lodging, etc. The roads are VERY steep and winding, so be careful if planning to bring a large RV. The coal trucks travel those roads, so it can be done, just make sure you're an experienced driver!

“WOW ! The best place to go to "get away from it all". Such a relaxing and beautiful place.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2012

This place is awesome. It has everything you need to relax. If you love the mountains this is the place to go. The park well organized and put together. The trails and overlooks are fantastic. The new water park is awesome for the little kids. We saw a ton of wildlife here (turkey, deer, bear). Love this place. Can't wait to go back. Next time, I'll try camping. Stayed in in their cabins this last time. This place rocks.
