“Older Hotel,But Nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2013

This hotel isconveniently located off the highway. This is an older hotel, but, it is nice. It does not have an elevator, but, the staff was very accomadating and very friendly. The room was large and nice. The bed was comfortable. I would stay here again if in the area.

I stayed here twice this month, in the same room as it appears to be the only non-smoking room with a queen bed. Has most of the amenities of a typical Comfort inn but the room looks dated. The towels smell moldy. It is quite easy to miss it when you drive down the highway as it is probably too late when you see the sign.
An interesting fact is that the hotel is next to a cemetery and all the non-smoking rooms are on the side next to it.

Staff was very friendly and helpful to four WET motorcycle travellers. The room was clean and comfortable and we will stay here again. My only complaint was the lack of an elevator, but since we were on our bike on this trip, with very little luggage, it was not too much of an inconvenience. We generally stay at HOliday Inn Express when one is available, but this was a comparable substitute.

Room Tip: Check in early to make sure you get a nonsmoking room.

We were traveling back from a 2 week camping trip, and Bluefield was about 1/2 way home. I booked this room direct with the hotel and qualified for a discounted rate, even though it still seemed high to me for a highway motel ($82/night tax included). But, there is not much choice here. The guy at the front desk was friendly and efficient. He even offered me some coffee, so I must have looked rough. The room was adequate for me and my son. The people in the room above us must have been playing musical chairs since they kept getting up, walking around, sitting down, getting up, etc. constantly for over an hour after we got there. That didn't keep us from sleeping. There was a coffee pot, fridge, and microwave in the room, and we got a non-smoker as requested. The beds were comfortable. The property is fairly new, with a small pool out back, some outdoor seating, and a nice view of the hills. The breakfast was pretty slim for a diabetic on a low carb diet. The sausage was in the gravy (which is also loaded with flour and corn starch). The scrambled eggs were pretty horrid and the hard boiled eggs were pre-peeled and dried out. There is a waffle iron, pastries, juice, hot and cold cereal, etc. The coffee was good.

The parking lot was well lit. We had lots of stuff in the back of my open bed truck, so I was glad we were in a safe area. The property is about 10 miles from I-77, but that was OK since motels near interstates tend to get more attention from nefarious characters. We were coming from the other direction, so the motel was on our way anyway.

This property is above average for Comfort Inns and certainly fit the bill for what we needed.

Very nice new property with responsive caring staff. Clean and tidy, immaculate pool. However at least a 10 mile round trip to get anything--food included and a 20 mile round trip from I-77--this is only negative, but a really BIG one!

My wife and I spent a weekend traveling through the Blue Ridge Mtns. of West Virginia and impulsively stopped at a Comfort Inn, (7-2013). We had not seen a lot of choices on this secondary highway and it was getting late in the evening. The rate was O.K. and the room seemed average at first glance. The following are a list of issues that we experienced, (room 222). One of our room keys did not work and had to be re-coded. This did not fix the problem and the key had to be replaced. The matresses on the beds were dated and were overdue to be replaced. When i went to the front desk to get facial tissues, (empty box in bath) & the door key replaced, the desk clerk was outside the builing in front smoking and talking on a cell phone while the inside phones at the desk were ringing off their hooks. She finished her cigarette before returning. The AC was noisy and leaked condensate water on the floor so we had to put towels down to soak it up. This problem was not apparent until later in the evening. The toilet had a very loose seat whick was nuisance. There was also a family reunion in progress in the dining area that evening so there was not any access to this area due to approx. 35 people congesting a small place. The coffee maker in the room had standing water in lower glass container which looked yucky. The continental breakfast was satisfactory and was typical. The rest of the staff seemed courteous and friendly. Also, there is not an elevator to access the second floor. The next morning at check-out the desk clerk, was on the phone trying to resolve a credit card issue and simply waved off people wanting to checking out if they did not have to have a receipt. There were several people waiting in line, so I left not wanting to waste any more time with this level of service. After leaving the next moring we discovered that had we traveled another 5 miles north, we would have found a much better selection of hotels at the I-77 & hwy. 460 exit.

Room Tip: Choose a good hotel if you want a good room. Higher floors are typically quieter. Stay away from Ice...

Good experience overall. Nice staff to work with and very quiet rooms. Good internet service and good breakfast. Hard to get out of, had to turn right and go about half mile then turn around to go right. Within driving distance to good places to eat.
