“Get the margaritas!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

El Rod's is always packed with college students. We love the jumbo texas margaritas, although all the flavors are good. The food and drinks prices are good, portions and drink sizes are huge! Chips and salsa are brought to the table and service is quick. The food is good, everything I have had there on my 20 plus trips has been enjoyable.

“No taste, poorly prepared food.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

We had dinner on a busy Saturday night. The atmosphere is nice and the chips and salsa were ok. The dinners, however, were not good at all. The burritos were mushy and not well filled. The rice had no taste and the refried beans were thin and nondescript. The tacos had only the meat inside and we had to ask for lettuce. There was no cheese. They even charged us a $1.00 extra for the lettuce!.
The guacamole "dip" had no relation to what we usually encounter at better Mexican restaurants. There was no taste, no cilantro, no body to it.
When they brought the fried ice cream they told us they had no chocolate to drizzle on it. The ice cream ball was rock hard.
The service was good, the waiters fly around the tables at break neck speed.
We were very disappointed with our dinner here.
