“We loved it and will return!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2011

This is a great hotel. I just stayed there with my boyfriend because it was the best value in the town (50$ a night instead of >$100 like all the other hotels in Blacksburg) and we had a wonderful stay. The owners (a husband and wife) are incredibly nice (and in reply to a previous poster, they speak English perfectly fine. We had no trouble communicating, they just have an accent). We left a pair of Birkenstocks in the room accidentally, and they shipped them to us. I don't think you could find a nicer set of hotel owners ANYWHERE. The hotel itself was also nice. The room was big, there was a nice fridge and a really nice microwave. Everything was clean and the a/c was great. The internet speed is very quick (better than what I have at home even, my boyfriend had no problem running an mmo game on it even). We will definitely stay again, and recommend this hotel to everyone.

This place seems to be a good safe place to stay in Blacksburg. It's right off the main road and the hotel staff are fairly friendly. I read a review that said there was poor Internet access, but I had no problems. It sounds like maybe they are under new management? Bathroom seems to be super clean, and no noisy neighbors. Only complaint is the main entrance onto 460 is a rather steep hill which now has some of my cars paint on it from when I bottomed out. Please use the side entrance unless you have a truck!

Driving by you maybe turned off by some of the old paint on the outside of the building, however if you are not too concerned with outside appearances this hotel is really not "run down". This is no holiday inn or best western, however if you are looking for a simple, economical place to stay this would be the place to go. I stayed here three nights and never had a problem with noisy neighbors or service. The military rate is about $45 a night, while any other hotel in the area will be at least double that.

Pros:
1. Value- a Room with 1 King size bed, 1 Full size bed, TV w/ free HBO, mini fridge, microwave, shower, and free wi-fi. At $45 a night that can not be beat.
2. Location- It is real close to Virginia Tech campus and not far from Christiansburg.
3. Service- Friendly kind staff, willing to accommodate needs (IE: Early check in)

Cons:
1. Room had a heavy smell of perfume- It wasn't nauseating or intolerable, after a few minutes in the room I wasn't able to notice it anymore
2. Thin front wall- You can hear your neighbors come and go from the parking lot. It never disturbed my sleep or my stay. The issue was negligible.
3. Towels- The towels were a little old and coarse. Fluffier towels are always nice, but certainly not a deal breaker for the value.

Nothing fancy, but the owner was very friendly and helpful at the front desk.

This is a great place to stay if you're simply looking for a hotel to sleep, shower and change. We have season tickets to Virginia Tech Football Games and always stay here. The owner and his wife are very nice, the rooms are always clean, and, unlike most all hotels in Blacksburg, you can actually walk to downtown; it's about a mile. If you're not up to it, the South Main Street bus stops just at the corner. It has the basics, TV, WiFi, a microwave, a mini-fridge, and coffee every morning in the lobby. There's also a new shopping center across the street with restaurants and different types of shops. Red Carpet Inn may not be the fanciest hotel in Blacksburg, but you can't beat the price; most all other hotels are double!

Great value. Not s super fancy place but everything works in the room, it is clean and comfortable and the price is great. The mattresses are some of the best (we like firm) that we have ever had in a hotel at any price. Checkout is easy for us. We paid with a credit card and were told just to leave our key cards in the room when we left. We did not even have to go to the office. The rules against pets are enforced; my guess is that sometimes causes hard feelings. Looking for a downside? I wish the AC was a bit more quiet on max cool/max fan. The owners are very nice. About 3 years ago, my wife was there and noticed that the ice machine was broken. The owner said that she could buzz the office anytime for some .My wife wanted ice at 1 am and woke up the owner and he got some from his own freezer. NOTE: The ice machine works now. :-) In summary, this is our first choice every time we go to Blacksburg.

Ok, the motel (I wouldn't even call it a hotel. It's not even close to one being one.) has the basics, TV, Wireless internet, a microwave and a mini-fridge. They also have room service everyday.

I'll start with the internet first. Sucks, you get disconnected all the time, and sometimes for one whole day. You tell the front desk, they'll tell you yeah. They're fixing it. Hours later, it's still not fixed. And it happens again next week.

The mini-fridge wasn't cleaned, and the ice compartment was totally frozen up, and dirty with some black muck on the edges. It was big enough for like 2 cartons of milk? And not to mention they'll freeze up your milk despite turning the temperature to the lowest. And even then, it seems the fridge isn't totally working. Sometimes i open it and i get frozen milk, and sometimes room temperature milk.

The room service? Oh great. They change your towels everyday and make your beds as well. Not to mention they'll simply try to walk in on you without even knocking. They have the access card you know. Which means, no privacy, and high possibilities of accidental intrusions.

Bathroom is infested with bugs. Every now and then i'll find something that's crawled into the bathroom through the bathtub's hole.

The person at the front desk wasn't exactly friendly as well. Had a difficult time communicating with them.
