“Another fantastic stay at this hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

This was my second stay at this hotel. 3 of my former VT friends and I got together for a girls weekend. We rented 2 suites with 2 queen beds, and reserved the larger suites. They were able to accommodate us and give us adjoining rooms. I checked in early, and had the pleasure of watching the housekeeping staff make up one of the suites while I worked in the suite that was ready. Every surface was wiped down and disinfected, and I was very impressed. The staff at this hotel is friendly and go out of their way to make sure you are not inconvenienced. We did not want our room serviced the second day, but the housekeeping staff gave us fresh shampoo and towels in the hall so that we would be set. The included hotel breakfast is great - everything from yogurt and boiled eggs, to hot eggs, sausage, biscuits and sausage, make your own waffle station, cereal and oatmeal. I especially like that they have iced tea, hot coffee, choices of juices, fresh fruit and milk as drink selections. Everyone in our group was able to find something to meet their dining preferences. This makes 7 nights I have spent at this hotel since the summer, and I continue to be impressed. I didn't use the pool or the workout room this trip, but another group came into the breakfast area after swimming and seemed very happy. My favorite part of this hotel - the beds and bedding are super comfortable.

Room Tip: Always good to choose a room away from the elevator. You can hear a little hall noise at this hotel...

Stayed here after moving in our Freshman. The entire place is redone from previous name and it is quite a nice hotel. The breakfast bar is more like a true restaurant breakfast and we were pleasantly surprised. It is extremely quiet yet so close to campus. And the price is right!

Room Tip: Choose a King suite...very roomy and nice sitting areas.

Nothing special about this hotel but nothing terrible either. Clean, efficient rooms, decent breakfast, super nice staff. Would stay here again. Lots of Hokie spirit! Convenient to campus and Blacksburg in general.

Dropped my freshman off to Hokie Camp before the start of the fall semester. With two adults and two teens in tow we needed the extra pullout and two queen size beds which worked out perfectly. The microwave, fridge and kitchenette were added bonuses. Liked the separation between toilet/shower and sink area. Made it easier to get ready w/o one person hogging the bathroom. Only wished for a little extra space to enclose the sink area instead of having it all open right across from the beds. Otherwise, with the complimentary breakfast included it was ideal. More expensive after renovations and name change from the Hawthorn Inn to Comfort Suites than it previously was in the spring.....

The hotel was the only hotel we could get three weeks before a football weekend so we grabbed it. The hotel was much nicer than other Comfort Inns that I had stayed in before. The rooms were recently redone. We had a king suite. Two suggestions... If you are given a room near the elevators ask to be moved as the elevators make a loud beeping noise every time they open or close. Also, we had three people with us and the sofa bed was not very comfortable so it would have been better to have a room with two double beds. Another suggestion is that the hotel invest in something so that the doors do not slam shut!

Room Tip: Ask to be moved away from the elevators.

This hotel was truly a great experience! We stayed at this hotel while we were on a college visit to VA Tech with our high school daughter. Ryan took my reservation over the phone and his customer service was top notch. The hotel is in a great location and close to VA Tech. We breezily checked in on Wednesday evening. Our room was spacious, clean, comfortable beds, plenty of towels, tastfully decorated and quiet. Next morning, we went down for our complimentary breakfast and was greeted by cheerful Juan who runs a clean and wonderfully stocked breakfast selection. But the biggest reason I like this hotel so much is because my daughter accidentally left her purse in the hotel room when we checked out. Tori, an employee of the hotel, called our house and left a message stating that house keeping (a BIG THANK YOU to the honest housekeeper) found a purse in our room. When we returned home that evening I immediately called the hotel and talked to Christy and she told me they would Fedex the purse the next morning, no problem. WOW! I can't say enough good things about this hotel. I am truly thankful that we stayed there and wouldn't stay anywhere else when we are in Blacksburg. By the way, I want to mention that we stayed at another hotel this summer in Colorado and my youngest left her camera in hotel room...totally opposite experience. Thank you, Comfort Suites University, you are simply wonderful! :)

The hotel has a nice lobby which provides breakfast in the morning.
I did not try breakfast.
The lobby is clean and nice.

The room is clean and spacious.
However, the bathroom is small.
The bed is comfortable.

This is a nice hotel that is located in a quiet area, and close to Virginia Tech, but not within walking distance.
