“tasteless”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2013

I have given D.P. Dough 5 chances and have been horribly disappointed every time. If I found the food to be simply bad, I may have concluded that it wasn't my cup of tea. This was not the case. The food was simply flavorless, specifically their cal zones, which is ironically what they pride themselves for. A restaurant to avoid.

“Cold and warm at once”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2013

The air was cold but the food was hot and tasty! Calzones were flavorful. We tried 5 different types and each was freshly made. We were warned when we ordered that a large group from the university was coming so that if this would interfere with our experience, we would know. The group came as we left so we were not bothered but appreciated the staff informing us that it might impact our experience. Food was hot and filling. About $9 for a drink and calzone. Drinks are refillable. Parking on the side street with a meter.

“EXCELLENT Calzone!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

The choices of calzone are amazing! I love calzones, so was extremely excited to try this place. The atmosphere is a pizzeria. Nothing special, but the service and the calzone is amazing. My husband got one of the specialty calzone and said is was delicious. I got a vegetarian one with pesto sauce and not ricotta, amazing! And the pest part is they have Pibb on tap! Will definitely be going back when we return this summer!

“Gets the Job Done When You're Drunk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

The food is decent enough. If I take it home, I usually stick it in the oven for a bit because the dough is chewy. They have tons of options and if you don't like any of the combinations, you can make your own. This is probably the most reliable, cheap (~$7) source of drunk food in Blacksburg. They also deliver.

“Solid food, plain atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012 via mobile

I have never eaten in a D.P. Dough restaurant before so didn't know what to expect. My wife and I had supper there about 6 PM on a Saturday evening before taking in a film at the lyric.

The interior is pretty stark, almost a warehouse atmosphere. The walls are covered with signs advertising their various calzones and a few other offerings. All calzones are baked on order, the signs warn you to be ready to wait about 15 minutes from the time you place your order.

We ordered a Roni Zoni calzone (pepperoni and 3 cheeses) and a Spinner Zone calzone (spinach and 3 cheeses. Each was $7.99 plus $1 for a self serve fountain drink. They were ready in less than 15 minutes. They were served in cardboard takeout boxes marked "eat-in" which served as our dishes.

The calzones are suitably large, a single one could be split between two persons for a fast lunch. But we're heavy on cheeses with remarkably less pepperoni and spinach. But all in all a good filling meal.

D.P. Dough offers free WiFi and a large screen TV. We were the only dinners at 6 PM but the placed was packed 2 hours later with VT students. As in most downtown Blacksburg, parking is scarce, but then this establishment caters mostly to students who are within walking distance.
