“Great location for VA Tech but.... Stayed 10/20/2012”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

The location for this hotel is great since we have a son attending Va Tech. The staff got us checked in very fast and were very friendly. But this is where it ends.. the room itself was a downer. There was mold on many parts of the bathroom tub , curtain, and walls. The room had dead bugs hanging from the ceiling. We stayed in room 149. The beds themselves were clean , but the pillows were very uncomfortable. I will probably not stay here again..

On Family Weekend at Virginia Tech you are lucky if you can find a room anywhere. We wanted to be close by the college, but found a room about 10 minutes away at Day's Inn on Holiday Lane. It is actually just a street parallel to South Main Street, don't let the street address fool you. Really convenient. This is the fourth place we've stayed in Blacksburg (Inn at Virginia Tech, Holiday Inn on Prices Forks Road, the Comfort Inn in Christiansburg). Days Inn is the best. It is not expensive, it is convenient, clean, it has a terrific view of the mountains out in the back, it's nicely landscaped and it sits on a large piece of land almost by itself so you have no noisy traffic, etc. The breakfast was wonderful: sausage gravy and biscuits, scrambled eggs, bacon, juices, coffees, cereal, waffles. It's between Blacksburg (the college) and Christiansburg (where all the needful shopping is). Days Inn it is!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed and wonderful review about your recent stay at the Days Inn Blacksburg. We are so glad that you found your way to our doorstep! As you mentioned we are very close to the university with easy access to it. Thank you for your compliments to our cleanliness, landscaping and deluxe complimentary continental breakfast. Our guests really do enjoy the wide variety on our breakfast! The view of the mountains behind us is an unexpected benefit to our guests and as you mentioned while incredibly convenient to the university, shopping and restaurants, the setting is quiet and serene. We hope that you will continue to stay with us on return visits to VA Tech!

I have stayed in several hotels in the Blacksburg area over the years, and this one was by far the worst. It is old and needs some serious renovation to bring it up to average hotel standards. Even the sheets on the bed looked like they had been fighting in the dryer all day - wrinkles everywhere. I rated it average - but barely.

While it is never easy to get less-than-complimentary feedback on a guest's experience at our hotel, we welcome all feedback as it can be used to better train our team and maintain our property’s favorable condition. The hotel did undergo substantial renovations a short time ago and while most guest responses have been very favorable with regards to the updates and condition, we value and will continue to take guest comments such as yours into consideration as we annually review ways to enhance our property.

The crew had a very busy weekend, and on Sunday when we arrived they were not ready for us, so we had to wait a bit. When we checked in they didn't tell us about the breakfast and there were no signs indicating so we didn't get any the next morning.

Thank you for taking the time to submit a review about your recent stay at our Days Inn Blacksburg. The fall season in Blacksburg is certainly a busy time with all the local university events and room demand is high and our housekeeping staff does try to turn around the rooms as quickly as possible. We do sincerely apologize that your room was not available when you arrived! I am so sorry that our staff neglected to tell you about the complimentary breakfast buffet. Guests really love the variety of the foods and the value that the breakfast provides during their stay with us. We certainly will take your suggestion to heart to improve breakfast signage so that future guests are better informed. We hope that you visit again so we have an opportunity to provide you with the level of service we strive for daily.
