“Best Bet in Blacksburg, VA”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

We stay at the Main Street in whenever we can when visiting Blacksburg. It's right downtown so no driving to restaurants and shops and a pleasant walk to the University. The rooms are wonderful and have all the amenities needed for a short trip. The staff is wonderful, courteous and helpful. Coffee/tea and treats always available in the cozy receiption area. Very quiet hotel - you will be well rested!

Over the four years we have been visiting VT this was our first time we were able to stay at the Main Street Inn. It is absolutely the best location with a very warm, friendly and helpful staff. Loved the lobby with coffee and snacks/fruit available 24/7. The beds were very comfortable and appreciated the hokie beads and koozies left in the room. I only note that our room wasn't cleaned very thoroughly or items restocked (coffee, shampoo, conditioner) the following day of our first night stay. Certainly not a deal breaker but for the price expect that extra attention. I would definitely stay there again! It was awesome that we didn't need to drive our car everywhere.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review on Main Street Inn. We appreciate your feed back and are always looking for ways to imrove your stay. I agree that you should have been disappointed that your room was not restocked properly. This is not the proper proceedure our housekeepers follow and your review will remind them of the imprortance in remembering even the smallest of details.

We look forward to having you again in the near future at Main Street Inn.

We've stayed there for games every year since it opened and it's always perfect. It couldn't be closer to downtown, and everyone that works there is incredibly nice and always going the extra mile to make you happy.

I've seen one review that said overpriced but I've paid just about the same amount to stay outside of town and more than made up for the difference by cabbing back and forth after celebrating a win.

From the time we checked in until the car was packed to leave the the staff could not have been more friendly and accomodating. Cookies upon arrival and VT cupcakes after the game were perfect for the kids (and dad). Rooms were a bit small but the bed and the pull-out sofa were both very comfortable and the location is PERFECT! We hope to enjoy many more football weekends at the Main Street Inn.

By far the best hotel in Blacksburg. Great rooms, wonderful staff, and superior locaton. You'd be remiss not to stay here regardless of your reason for visting Virginia Tech. The rooms are all suite style and very luxerious.

The staff is wonderful, could not be nicer. The facilities leave something to be desired. I wanted to love it here, the location is perfect. The rooms are hobbit sized, even my 10 year old thought it was claustrophobic. There is no dresser!? I have never stayed anyplace without a dresser and/or a desk but there is just no room. The sitting area is big enough for 2, there is no place to have a bite to eat.

The worst part was the air handling system. We were in room 202 which is next to the balcony. That would be the balcony where everyone goes to smoke. The stinky smoker air was sucked right into our room :-P The a/c unit is in the bedroom section of the room and in order to make the living room section comfortable you froze in the bedroom. With all of the options available we will not be returning.

Not even a continental breakfast was offered. Refreshments consisted of a keurig in the lobby with some store bought biscotti and a basket of apples.

Thank you for choosing Main Street Inn for your lodging choice when visiting Blacksburg and Virginia Tech. I agree with your comments on our staff. They are wonderful. We hire the majority of our staff from the School of Hospitality Management from Virginia Tech and love our relationship with the school and its student body. Go Hokies!

I must agree that the particular room you were in is smaller than our other rooms. We only have two rooms of this size and indeed there is not a dresser but custom shelving built into the closet area.

This is the very first complaint we have had in regards to smoke being drawn into the room. Since we are a 100% non-smoking hotel, this concerns me and it will be adressed. I appreciate you bringing it to our attention.

The offerings in the lobby of fresh coffee, biscotti and apples are available 24 hours a day. In the morning we offer the addition of fresh baked muffins with an assortment of trail bars along with fresh orange juice. Home made cookies are at the front desk in the evenings.

Along with our friendly staff, our location cannot be beat. I hope you will reconsider and give us another try on your next visit to Blacksburg and Virginia Tech.

Terrible customer service, overpriced, tiny rooms, not clean. Did I say terrible customer service?
Management staff does not return phone calls. Not willing to refund our room, even when calling 2 months in advance.
Overall poor management, lousy rooms, and overpriced. I would not recommend this hotel at all.
