This was the second time that we have stayed at the Barberra cottage at the 1804 Inn. Just as charming and romantic as the last time. The bed was comfortable, the small dining area and kitchen were fine and the bottle of wine, crackers and cheese with grapes that were left for us were very thoughtful. We took the wine and snacks out into the garden and sat at the wrought iron table to appreciate the sunset and the view.
When we got back from dinner at the Palladio (disappointment--food excellent, service mediocre), we had a fire in the fireplace, as the evening was chilly. How romantic!
After a restful night's sleep, we breakfasted in the garden. The breakfast food wasn't that great. Honestly, I would prefer some whole grain bread that could be toasted in the toaster in the cottage to the soggy pastries that were left in the refrigerator, and some plain yogurt and unsweetend meusli would be more appreciated than the quiche that had to be reheated in the microwave. and yet was still soggy. Breakfast at the 1804 could definitely be improved. But the room was clean and well-prepared and the innkeeper was very accomodating (we arrived after check-in time). I can't wait to go back for another romantic interlude with mon cher!
