“The Best as was promised”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013 via mobile

We arrived to spend a night at the best hotel in Wilmington. We were not disappointed at all: The hospitality the cosines and the style turned our staying there into a great experience. We promised to come back. We usually keep our words.

We stayed at the Inn in October in a room we had not been in before. We have been coming back to the Nutmeg for over 20 yrs. The room was fantastic! In fact ever room that we have stayed in over the years have been fantastic. We cannot say enough great things about the awesome staff and owners at the Nutmeg. They also make the difference in staying at an Inn instead of a hotel. I have said this before but the helpful information that Wendy provides is awesome! It is such a pleasure to be able to talk to someone who can tell you important information about a variety of places in the area!

Room Tip: Nope. All the rooms are great But we want to keep the ones we stayed in a secret! Hint: fireplace.

We really enjoyed our short stay - only one night - at the Nutmeg Inn. Everything very clean, very friendly and helpful staff, and a really nice location. It's a shame it is a mile or so from the centre of the town, therefore the need (seemingly near-inevitable in New England) to get into the car to go out for a meal in the evening. But our trip to the recommended fish restaurant in Wilmington was excellent. All round this was a great place to stay and is very much recommended.

Room Tip: Not sure how busy the main road at the front is, but I'm pleased we didnt get one of the rooms l...

We rented the honeymoon suite last week (Oct 19th). The property is very nice and there are walking trails in the back. Our suite had it's own private deck with furniture to relax in. We also had a fireplace that worked wonderfully and a whirlpool tub. The suite was spacious and the decor was great. The entire inn was very cozy and the staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was outstanding. The french toast is incredible! We even got to meet the owners, who were great people. We intend to go back in the fall every year and I feel like we'd be cheating on the nutmeg if we stayed anywhere else!

Room Tip: Honeymoon Suite - king sized bed, fireplace, whirlpool tub, private back deck.

The location of this inn is perfect - right at the start of Route 100 which takes you through some incredible scenery! The inn was a very enjoyable place to stay (watch out for the steep steps if you have a second floor room - getting lots of luggage up there can be a challenge). Our room had a fireplace at the foot of our bed - perfect! For some, the room may be a bit noisy from the outside road noise (our room sat in the front of the inn) - but we were still able to get a good night's sleep. The breakfast was delicious. We appreciated that they gave us a time slot so that not everyone was coming to breakfast at the same time. The staff was very accommodating, giving good recommendations for places to eat (we were not that hungry so dined at the Pizzeria in Wilmington. A good informal place!). The inn certainly has many museum-like features and it is fun to take in all the artifacts and art that has been created by one of the inn keepers. We definitely felt this was a great choice!

Room Tip: We loved our room with the fireplace. But may want to consider a room away from the front of the in...

The Nut Meg Inn was perfect for us, the staff went out of their way to make us comfortable. Their breakfast each day was very enjoyable. They were helpful in sending us places to see and dine for dinner. If we have the pleasure of visiting Vermont again, we will be staying at the Inn.

My husband's parents owned the Nutmeg Inn when he was young. Our first stop when visiting his home town, Wilmington, was at the Nutmeg Inn to relive his memories and make new ones. We were immediately greeted by the new owners and were made to feel at home. The Inn was clean and beautiful, the grounds were wonderfully maintained and the breakfast was delicious. We were even taken on a 'tour' of the Inn where my husband's old room used to be! "Thank you" to the new owners for making our trip so special and keeping the Nutmeg Inn charm alive!!
