“A sophisticated B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2011

My husband and I stayed at the Nutmeg just this past week and we were so pleased with the hospitality that Doug and Geo exuded! They were most gracious, helpful and informative about not only the area but also offering personal recommendations as we had business to take care of in the area. The B&B is drop-dead gorgeous with very tasteful antiques and spectacular artwork. If you are looking for a sophisticated home away from home, this is the place. And, the breakfasts are excellent, too! You can't beat it for the location and attention to details everywhere. We are already planning our return trip and telling our friends about it. We wish them the best from the bottom of our hearts........A&G

Room Tip: The stairs are steep so if you have bad knees, ask for a room on ground level.

My husband and I stayed at the Nutmeg Country Inn with a group of friends and found the accommodations very comfortable and the Innkeepers charming. We had a ground floor room with a sitting area, wood burning fireplace (with logs and kindling already in place so all we had to do was light a match to enjoy a wonderful evening by the fire), comfortable queen bed and large bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub and our own private entrance to the back yard. For breakfast we enjoyed a choice of French toast, Waffle, or omelet with sausage or bacon along with juice and coffee/tea (I had the French toast and it was yummy....there's nothing like real Vermont maple syrup to start off the day!) We also had an opportunity to see the Honeymoon Suite which is very roomy with a large sitting area, wood burning fireplace and private deck overlooking the grounds. Doug and Geo, the new owners, have done a great job bringing the Inn up to snuff and they and their staff were very friendly and helpful. The Inn was built in the 1770's so there are some narrow steps and sloping floors but the rooms are laid out so there is lots of privacy and comfort. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and look forward to returning again.

Room Tip: In the winter, get a room with a fireplace and in the summer choose one with a private entrance or d...

Most of the reviews of the Nutmeg Inn call it excellent, and they're spot on. It's beautifully decorated and feels comfortable from the moment you walk in the door. Our room was perfect. The bed was comfortable for both my wife and I and the large tub was luxurious. The fireplace was a real treat in the evening. If you stay for multiple nights, I suggest you try the different breakfast options - they're all quite tasty. I tried all three, and I'm glad I did. There are a lot of nice restaurants nearby, as well as antique stores, hiking trails, and views. It's such a peaceful and pleasant getaway. The owners are great people, too, with good conversation and helpful tips if you have any questions about where to go or what to do. Oh, and a complementary glass of wine is pretty nice too!

What a wonderful inn and such pleasant hosts! My husband and I and my sister who was visiting from North Carolina had beautiful rooms and delicious breakfasts during our 2 night stay. We were there for the "leaf peeping" although most of the color was gone we were so saddened by the devastation that had happened from Irene. It's amazing how much reconstruction has been done in so little time, we had no trouble at all getting around. Good Luck and God Bless to you in Wilmington..we will be back soon.

We arrived in the evening after a long drive from the City to the gracious hosts of the Nutmeg Inn, Geo and Doug. Not only were they awaiting our somewhat delayed arrival, they welcomed us with open arms and a glass of wine! Our room was spectacular; we felt ensconced in comfort from the moment we entered. In fact, the only reason prompting us to get out of bed was the breakfast we had ordered the prior evening - and breakfast hardly does the meal justice! The omelet was perfect, and the french toast beyond description. Every moment of our stay was perfect; a home away from home.

Room Tip: The corner suite was spacious but at the same time cozy with a wood burning fireplace and a wonderfu...

From the moment we arrived for our 6 night stay we felt so welcome and comfortable. Doug, Geo and Andy were perfect hosts, wonderful conversation, area information and great wine! The breakfasts are served in beautiful dining settings, and are delicious. My bed was not only the largest, but with the nice sheets and the great mattress, sleep was wonderful. I will come back and can't wait to do so!! Dawn:))

We stayed here for two nights on our first trip to New England, having chosen the Inn after consulting Tripadvisor. We were not disappointed.
The Inn is very homely and the hosts Geo and Doug made us feel very welcome.
On the second night we ate in the Inn and it was a wonderful meal and great value.
Overall a well worth a visit as Wilmington is central for tours around southern Vermont.
