My husband and I spent the night here after having had an enjoyable four nights at the Hampton Inn in Manhattan. Although the room was clean and the bed comfortable, it is for the following reasons we will not return her:

1. The clerk ( the elderly woman )at the desk seemed unwelcoming. When we asked her where we could dine she handed us a piece of paper and told us there was a MacDonald's down the street. Her skill in public relations is very limited. Fortunately, after driving around town, some locals were able to direct us to a very fine restaurant where the food was excellent.

2. When my husband requested a bottle of water that same clerk told him she could not give us one as we were not Hilton Gold members. Once he told her I was, she was still reluctant to give him a bottle of water explaining he had paid the bill not I. Ridiculous!! After having spent almost two hundred dollars for our room, I find this very concerning that the hotel could not spare us a fifty cent bottle of water. This has never been a problem at any of the Hamptons we had stayed at.

3. Although the bathroom appeared clean, we found several ants, the caulking needed replacement, and there seemed to be black mold around the shower handlebars.

4. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean. Thank goodness.

5. The price of the room was too high for the location. The cost of our room in Times Square NYC was only fifty more dollars more than this one! Considering the service was poor and the hotel is not located to any major attractions, this room was way overpriced.

We stayed July 2 on way to drop daughter off for summer internship. Arrived 9 pm in thunderstorm. Could not find check in in the dark, as lobby being renovated. Finally located after 3 trips around the building. Unlit. Unmarked. Soaked when got inside. Think the "front desk" person had a female visitor. Got checked in and up to room, put key in, lock turns green, can't get door open. Finally shove it open, seemed like frame bent, the smell of the non-smoking room hit us. It smelled old, musty, and like ashtrays. So disappointed. Never had this experience before at a Hampton Inn. Rug was ripped and stained. Furniture was in rough shape. They left the old fridge/microwave stand listing in the corner of the room with no appliances on it. Hole in bathroom wall. Tub and toilet stained and chipped. Sink with stains and grime around drain that was removable. Yuck. Go back to lobby where clerk seems very distracted. Told him of shape of room, did offer comp, no offer to move us until I was leaving to go back up. I did say no as my daughter was exhausted and already in bed. Got back up to room, put key in, light turns green, door won't open , it is jammed. Shove many times but had to put my shoulder to door to open it. Imagine surprise in am when bill showed up under door for full night stay! At 139 way too much for this lack of cleanliness and amenities. Down to the temporary lobby where an older gentleman stated they did not get a full report from young man night before on what was wrong. Took info and gave receipt for comped room on request. Back to that door, key in, turns green, can't get open. This time had to drag child out of bed to get it open from the inside! We travel through area alot and would like to use Hampton Inn for overnights, but now I am so afraid to book another reservation here.Told me they had no plans to do the rooms. Not a good idea, Hilton/Hampton!

This hotel has an excellent location with easy access to highway. Great accommodations. I found absolutely nothing wrong with this hotel. The area had another hotel that was a name brand and I mistakenly thought I had a reservation there. I am so glad that it was a mistake and that I was able to stay at Hampton Inn.

Everything about our stay was first rate. We were in the area for a Dartmouth College family event and found this hotel extremely convenient to Hanover, NH and the necessary student shopping in W. Lebanon, NH.

and it is just O.K. I have stayed in many other Hampton inns and this one was nothing like the others in style or atmosphere. But it is the rooms that need the attention now! Lots of details are being overlooked by management, i.e., a chipped soap dish, a broken light fixture and shade next to the bed, a supposedly clean towel with black shoe polish ( I think) on the edge, an hvac unit that looked like someone sat on it and consequently it made more noise than usual. In all fairness, part of the problem was an open heating valve which maintenance fixed promptly. The icing on the cake was the broken elevator in the morning when we were to leave . the front desk gave lip service to sending someone to carry our bags down but after twenty minutes of waiting we thumped our bags down the stairs ourselves.
For our return trip we were planning on staying here again but there were no rooms available. Management did find us a room at the nearby Fairfield Inn which was much better even though it is the SAME manager!! Go figure!

Room Tip: Check at desk if any rooms have been renovated or updated with microwaves and minifridges. Supposedl...

In terms of quality and cleanliness, on the upper end in my Hampton Inn experiences, with a very pleasant, welcoming front desk staff. Hotel appears new—you have to look for the wear. Bright and cheery. Some minor problems—ice machine on our floor was not working, the following morning the elevator, but temporarily. Standard Hampton Inn breakfast fare. Within its class and kind of accommodation, this hotel is well above standard. (Go quickly and easily right across the border to New Hampshire for food options—there is little near the large grouping of hotels where the Hampton Inn is other than McDonalds.)
