This was our second visit to the Red Oak Inn in West Dover, Vt. We look forward to returning. Our room on the second floor had a balcony and views of the lovely gardens. I would describe the decor of the Red Oak as quaint, old school, rustic, and homey. Our travel priorities are:
CLEANLINESS: The Red Oak is very clean. Even vacuumed our carpet in the morning while fixing up our room. Changed every towel - whether it was apparently used or still folded up!
HOSPITALITY: Our greeting was welcoming and pleasant - not false and gushy. We were invited to explore and enjoy all of the amenities.
DINING: breakfast at the Red Oak was hot, and served with a smile. Our hosts were attentive and eager to keep our fresh-brewed coffee warm - even brought us a carafe for our table!
Two comfortable lounges to relax in (including a LIBRARY with lots of great kids' books), and PLENTY of local travel info available right in the front vestibule.
Not a cold, stuffy chain-hotel - just homey, comfortable lodging!

  • Liked — Location and welcoming, homey comfortable lounge areas
  • Disliked — Not many other travelers to connect with. But we were there midweek so maybe weekends are more lively!

Best free breakfast I ever had!

Booked this hotel last minute for an impromptu ski trip, as a clipper was coming in and we wanted to be there! The usual place we stay was full, as were many of the hotels so the Red Oak was chosen because they had a room. It was a good choice. The room was modest and small but clean. The inn had what we needed as far as hot tub outdoors and proximity to mtn. Nothing fancy but ... the breakfast they provided for free was great! Poached eggs, sausage, bacon, french toast, waffles, hashbrowns, as well as the usual non-cooked items. A nice place, good staff - we'll certainly stay there again.

Good and dog friendly

Stayed at the Red Oak Inn for New Years Eve for 3 nights. This was our first time visiting this area for skiing at Mt. Snow and we wanted to bring our two cocker spaniels with us. We called a few places, most were not dog friendly. But the Red Oak has 3 or 4 dog friendly rooms and one was available this weekend. I think that there are new owners this winter, so we were going off of good reviews from the previous owner. Anyway, overall this place is good: the dog friendly rooms are on the first level of the inn and so each has outdoor entry (great for letting the doggies out) plus an interior entry (great for going to the hot tub). Everything seemed pretty clean, the carpet was dark blue shag, probably due to being the pet friendly room. The breakfast that is included is SUPER GREAT!! The inn was at capacity for this weekend, but we were the only ones in the hot tub, might be because the hot tub and sauna room are not marked as such, so it was a "secret" to go there. But both were working and clean. The couple that run the place seem very nice. If you want luxury, do not come to the Red Oak, but if you want good prices, close to Mt. Snow, clean, homey feel, and good for pets, then this is a nice place. Oh, and they have a good package for getting lift tickets with your room so you save like $20 on the lift. Good skiing!

  • Liked — breakfast, quiet
  • Disliked — bed was not super comfy

Wonderful B&B. Paul and Kenny are great hosts and made us all feel right at home.

With the four of us - two adults and two kids -- arriving late, and two additional dogs, they made all six of us feel welcome and enjoy the inn on a quiet January day!

The breakfast was fantastic -- wonderful Texas toast and perfectly cooked eggs.

The room was great -- with a door to the outside and a covered rock path to walk the dogs on and not get the dogs all dirty and wet in the rain. They loved the hotel too!

Would stay again! Right near Mount Snow and all the amenities on Route 100!
