“Good hotel...prepare to walk!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2009

The Grand Summit at Mount Snow is a nice base lodge hotel with above-average amenities, and potentially above-average hallway lengths. The gym and pool are great, and the rooms are very comfortable with good linens, towels, etc. and comfortable beds. My only gripe is the length one must walk to an elevator - people, if you've skied or mountain biked all day, you could still be in for a walk. Older travelers should request central rooms.

I recently stayed @ the Grand Summit hotel. It was a short walk to the October feast which was great! The room was very clean and the staff was very pleasant .They had an outdoor heated pool and hot tub which was fantastic. IF you are going to mount snow I would definitely recommend staying at the grand summit hotel?

We found The Grand Summit Resort at Mt Snow to be, by far, the most comfortable and accommodating resort that we have come across. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and spacious. Housekeeping comes every day. Fresh coffee, shampoos, soaps and lotions are supplied each day, along with having the beds made, floors vacuumed, and dishwasher loaded. We had two units. One very large two bedroom unit with balcony and fireplace. The other unit was a studio size with Murphy bed, kitchen, and living space. Both units were very nice. There is a heated outdoor pool and hot tubs, spa facility, and fitness center. Several nice golf courses are close by. We only had time for one round and Mount Snow Golf Club.

This resort is situated at the base of Mt Snow. In the winter you could ski right out the door to the lifts. We were there in the summer , so we walked to the lift and took the ride to the top. What a view! The lift runs Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. You can get off at the top and hike down, or you can ride up, hike around at the top and ride down later.

West Dover is quaint, but not too much to see. Wilmington is 9 miles south and is an adorable little town with restaurants, shops and a grocery store.

Bennington is to the west 21 miles from Wilmington. Here you will find historical sights, shops, and restaurants. Take the time to go up in the Battle Monument, tour the Park-McCullough House, visit the Old First Church to name a few things.

It is worth the drive north to Manchester if you like outlet shopping. These shops are arranged in buildings throughout the town. It’s a lovely town. Make sure you visit Hildene, the summer home of Robert Todd Lincoln, son of Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln.

Travel one and a half hour north on scenic route 100 and visit the most charming town of Woodstock. On your way on scenic route 100 , stop by the President Calvin Coolidge homestead at Plymouth Notch, Vermont.

We really enjoyed our stay at Grand Summit Resort and would recommend it everyone.

We booked this from Trip advisor and was pretty happy with this place other than the walls are thin. You can hear people above you talking and their phones ringing.
We booked a 1 bedroom suit and it was very spacious for the 5 of us.
Kitchen was just Ok not the best but we weren't cooking anyways for just the weekend.
The room was very well kept and clean. The bed in the bedroom was comfey.
The only bad thing other than the noise level is after 5pm the only resturant open is Herrimans and it doesnt have a great selection of entrees to offer. I recommend going down into down after you eat 1x in their. Over all good stay, the Mt was great skiing.

We have a house in the Mount Snow area, but due to a packed house for New Years, we decided to stay at The Grand Summit Lodge. The day we walked in to our room, it felt like it was 85 degrees. We turned the heat off, opened the window and door and went out for the day. When we came back the room was still very hot, and even with the heat off we had to sleep with the door and window open. After a bad nights sleep, at 7 a.m. on New Years day we were awoken to screaming kids in the room next to us. We tried to sleep but couldn't, so we got up and had breakfast. That night the room had cooled a bit, due to very cold weather, but again at 7 a.m. we were awoken by screaming kids in the room next to us. Finally the last night we were there, it again was extremely hot in the room and we had to keep the window and door open. All night the door creaked with the wind. At approximately 4 a.m. I heard water flowing in the bathroom. When I went to check I found the toilet had overflowed. The whole time we were there the toilet ran, and finally it overflowed. I used the towels in the bathroom to clean up and while doing so the toilet cleared itself. We had numerous other incidents occur, and we notified the management and we were told that the room had been out of service, but put back in to service dut to lack of available rooms. We also wrote the hotel and received nothing in return. I want to say in closing that I am a big fan of the new ownership at Mount Snow, and I am a season pass holder. Unfortunately they are not doing the right thing at The Grand Summit and strongly recommend that you not go there.

Went to VT to visit friends, see leaves, work out. Fantastic place.
Ate at Harriman's in the hotel. Swam outdoors in 30 degree weather, walked the Valley Trail several times---all fantastic.
Friendly staff, great room/accomodations...far from other towns but once one gets to Wilmington, Manchester, Brattleboro-very worth the trip. All great places to visit. Highly recommend this place anytime of the year. A must stay kind of place

4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2008

Our one week stay in late July in a one-bedroom, recently refurbished, very clean, comfortable, and spacious unit was perfect for the two of us. The resort is huge, and it felt quite empty except for a couple of days when a business group arrived. We enjoyed taking the chairlift up Mount Snow (Fridays through Sundays), the terrific views, the 2 hour hike down the mountain (we saw a deer scamper away upon spotting us), and relaxing by the pool.

Overall assessment:
-Well maintained, comfortable accommodations. Full kitchen with Green Mountain coffee provided daily. Daily housekeeping was prompt and efficient.
-Beautiful setting. Great base to explore surrounding areas.
-Our particular end unit on the first floor (above ground floor) was located above a loading dock and was occasionally noisy. The view out the side of the complex was of a chairlift, rather than of the beautiful mountains facing the front and back of the complex. Minor detail for us. Small balcony off bedroom provided another view. There are many different types of accomodations available to choose from, all detailed on the hotel website.
-The large rectangular pool was very warm and also included 2 hot-tubs. A wooden fence enclosure creates a somewhat boxed-in feeling however, and butts up along one long side of the pool, leaving no room for lounge chairs. This wasn’t a problem for the one day we spent by the pool, but it may be harder to find a chair during busier periods. Also, there are not enough parasols to provide shade.
-There were no benches or chairs on the grounds to just sit and read or relax and enjoy the views, other than around the pool, which naturally can get noisy.
-Free wireless internet was terrific. Also, DVD player enabled us to watch a series we had begun at home.

Because we visited Bennington (historic battle monument, Bennington museum, Robert Frost’s grave), Manchester (Hildene estate a must see for the magnificent views and Lincoln history) and hiked in nearby Grout Pond (beautiful for kayaking), we enjoyed returning to Grand Summit as home base. Otherwise, we would not have had enough to occupy us at the resort at this time of year. Just as skiing is its main focus in winter, mountain biking and golf are the mains attractions here in summer. Still, it was a good choice for us and we’d return.

  • Liked — Cleanliness, spaciousness, location
