I always highly research hotels before I book but I was off on this one. It's not an awful place but definitely not what I was expecting. I have to agree with the reviewer before me.... it definitely had a run down motel feel. We had a queen room and the size was okay but there was stained ripped wallpaper and a picture hung so high and out of place that it had to be hiding something on the wall. The furniture is a bid worn and the bathroom while clean had trim at the bottom of the tub that really needed to be painted. We didn't need air conditioning but the only visible means of air conditioning was a window unit in the bathroom that was very poorly fitted into the window....you could see daylight between the unit and the window. There was a sliding door which did not move freely leading to a deck area that runs along the back of the hotel....not very deep just enough for a chair. But from that deck you could see the bad condition of the exterior... no rain spouting and really needs a paint job. Our room was in the back of the hotel in the main building so it was quiet as far as outside noise but you can hear your inside neighbors. We met a couple at breakfast who were in the annex building which is very close to the road and they said it was very noisy.
The breakfast was pretty good. There was coffee or tea, cake, and you make a selection for your entree from 4 or 5 items. I had french toast which was good and my husband had belgain waffles which he thought were just okay. They also give you 2 link type breakfast sausages.
The front of the hotel is appealing with the long covered walkway and front porch and entry are appealing too. Inside the entry it seems dark and dreary.....there are alot of nice New England style items but it seems overly crowded and just not clean feeling. The sad thing here is that this place has the potential to be a really cute place. Definitely not the New England Inn experience we were expecting. We will try another place if we return to the area.
