We just returned home after spending 3 days and nights at the Inn, celebrating Columbus Day weekend/ fall foliage. I have spent many nights in the mad River Valley, both during ski season as well as the other three seasons. This is the best! The Inn is just off the beaten path (meaning no traffic from busy roads) but a short walk to downtown historic Waitsfield. In very short order Mike and Sandi, the owners, are your friends, not just the inn-keepers. While I have had very good breakfasts at other B&Bs, these three were among the best. The cookie "snacks" in the afternoon were also great. What I like best about this Inn and what I find different from most is that the rooms have the requisite period style and feel but are relatively new as a result of a recent renovation. The bathrooms must have been gutted at that time because the bath is a dazzling white and bright room with all new fixtures including a whirlpool bath. While I like antiques, etc. I also like doors to properly close and things to be relatively plumb and especially a clean and fresh bathroom. The king bed was great. Although we made a reservation for next Columbus day weekend, I am sure we will be back much sooner.
