“Party of 8 and 7 yes, one no.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2012

Many wines by the glass and superb bar selection. For food, best bet is the barbecue pulled pork sandwich. Also top quality hamburgers with a variety of toppings and garnishes, all perfectly cooked. In our party of 8 for dinner, the delivery of food was erratic. Some who did not order appetizers had their main course entrees delivered before others got their appetizers. The servers were fast and efficient, and could explain menu items. New chef Jamie Nelson is trying to put some upscale items on the menu like truffle fries. The fish selections are totally fresh and well prepared. Many fresh veggies, but the line cooks send out some too al denta and others too over cooked. One person complained that the yellow squash was too big (therefore too old) and not trimmed or sliced properly.

“New chef - great food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2012 via mobile

I read that there was a new chef at Ake's so decided to give this place another try. We started with chicken wings. They were crispy and flavorful without being drowned in too much sauce. The crab cakes were excellent and served piping hot. The service was great and the staff seems excited about the new menu.
I would recommend giving this place a try. As a local, I will definitely go back.

“Just awful”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2012

Sorry, but this place sucks. Salad drowning in dressing, fish cooked to a crisp, french fries too crunchy. Just a bunch of crap. These restaurants cannot handle the crowds that come on the big weekends, but since there are so few places to eat, I just don't think they care. Very sad.

“Great homemade dishes, extensive beer selection”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2012

My family and I come here fairly often and are never disappointed. The meals include ribs, meatloaf, etc. with sides of delicious mashed potatoes or homemade mac & cheese. A lot of beer choices. Good value.
