We just enjoyed an impromptu VT trip and stayed at the Hyde Away. We lucked out and because it's just before ski season, we got the Fireplace Room with a last minute booking. (IE Friday morning for Friday night.)
Bruce, the owner, was super nice and very accommodating to us, our 2 small children and our dog. Our room was very nicely appointed. It had Vermont Charm coupled with cleanliness and quality. And the working fireplace was such nice feature. All we had to do was strike a match.
Our first night we ate dinner in the restaurant so we could keep it simple after a long afternoon of travel. The food was good and the service was excellent.
Full breakfast was included each morning of our 2-night stay and given how quiet they were for the "off-season" we were told we could pretty much have anything we wanted. Everyone was well fed both days.
The local atmosphere in the bar made for a nice hang out. Even though this was right on a well traveled road, we felt there was ample opportunity to just relax... and again we really felt the owner was very accommodating.
We'll highly recommend this to anyone interested in a nice, reasonable place to stay and/or eat in the Mad River Glen/Sugarbush area. It's also about half way between Burlington and Montpelier, which was a plus for us on this trip.
