“wouldn't stay anywhere else in this area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2010

We just enjoyed an impromptu VT trip and stayed at the Hyde Away. We lucked out and because it's just before ski season, we got the Fireplace Room with a last minute booking. (IE Friday morning for Friday night.)

Bruce, the owner, was super nice and very accommodating to us, our 2 small children and our dog. Our room was very nicely appointed. It had Vermont Charm coupled with cleanliness and quality. And the working fireplace was such nice feature. All we had to do was strike a match.

Our first night we ate dinner in the restaurant so we could keep it simple after a long afternoon of travel. The food was good and the service was excellent.

Full breakfast was included each morning of our 2-night stay and given how quiet they were for the "off-season" we were told we could pretty much have anything we wanted. Everyone was well fed both days.

The local atmosphere in the bar made for a nice hang out. Even though this was right on a well traveled road, we felt there was ample opportunity to just relax... and again we really felt the owner was very accommodating.

We'll highly recommend this to anyone interested in a nice, reasonable place to stay and/or eat in the Mad River Glen/Sugarbush area. It's also about half way between Burlington and Montpelier, which was a plus for us on this trip.

The Hyde Away is truly a gem. We have been here several years in a row for a ski weekend with friends.

The best part about the Hyde Away is the laid back atmosphere and the staff- especially Half Day Bob- the bartender! We have come with groups and have always had a great time. The rooms are nicer than expected and are all scattered throughout the building so there's never too much noise around your room. They are also pet friendly which is great.

And no need to drive anywhere for a great meal and some frosty beverages. You can got to the bar in your slippers, have some great drinks, hang with some locals and stay up way too late. We always have a blast at the Hyde Away!

We were welcomed to this place by wonderful staff and great lodging...very reasonably priced inn and food, especially the huge, homemade breakfast. Locals come for the food as well, so you know it is the place to be. Plenty of space for all. Thanks Margaret.

I've skied in the Valley for years and have slept everywhere. I keep coming back to the Hyde Away. Bruce and Margaret are the bicest inkeepers ever and that MK in the bar always ensures that we have a great time. I was lucky to be there for one of their famous Beach Parties -- an unforgettable time.No better place in the Mad River Valley for me to lay my head! Good food, good drink and goo times!Lucie LeChien
