“Quintessential VT Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2007

My fiance and I just stayed at The Inn at the Round Barn this past weekend for a friend's wedding (that also took place on the property.) We arrived a few hours early, thinking we'd be turned away at the door and the staff quickly checked to see if our room was ready ahead of schedule- and it was. So we were able to check in and the staff enthusiastically gave us the scoop on where to go for swimming, sightseeing and the best deli for lunch. The grounds were so beautiful- the perfect setting for a wedding (if we hadn't already booked ours, we'd want to do it here!) We had such a great time staying overnight and spending the day in Waitsfield and Warren and we will definitely be back because of the friendly and cozy atmosphere- we're hoping for one of the winter night-time snowshoe outings!

  • Liked — the smaller scale inn/b&b feeling
  • Disliked — thin walls (unavoidable b/c it's an older building)

We were so pleased with our stay. We only wish we could have been there longer. We ended up visiting during a snow storm so our flight was delayed and we arrived at the inn at 2:30am. The inn's hosts were so hospitable and calm when we called throughout the day to tell them we would be arriving late. The room we stayed in was just lovely. The bed was tempurpedic - what a treat! There were also some really nice touches - slippers, robes, steam shower and neat books. Breakfast was delicious - waffles with tons of fruit on top. We just wished we could have stayed all day and relaxed in this gorgeous inn but we will definitely be back (and plan a longer stay)!

  • Liked — gorgeous scenery, tempurpedic bed, quietness
  • Disliked — I honestly can't think of anything

My wife and I were married at the Round Barn Inn this winter and the entire event was fantastic. We had a destination wedding and after looking at a number of locations from Stowe to East Burke, we chose the Round Barn. All of our guest who stayed at the Inn had a great time and I have only hear very positive comments about their stay. This is simply one of the best Inns I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. The breakfasts are excellent. The food at the wedding reception received rave reviews. The people at the Inn are very warm and inviting. Because we were planning the wedding from out of state we considered hiring a wedding coordinator, but after working with Stacey it was clear that we did not need one. She was very helpful and patiently answered our numerous questions. The Inn arranged a moonlight snowshoe tour and dinner at a cabin in the woods for the wedding party as our rehersal dinner -- this was extremely fun and I highly recommend it. Overall we and our guests truly enjoyed our stay at the Inn and the wedding reception.

Dear L & B aka Happily Married Washington Couple, Thanks you so much for the wonderful feedback about your destination wedding weekend at The Inn at the Round Barn Farm, and thanks for letting other Trip Advisor folks in on the best kept secret in Vermont! We look forward to seeing you for many anniversaries. We will have your snowshoes waiting and the cabin warm. I'll pass along your comments to Chef Charlie Menard about the "rave reviews" on his food. I'll also let Stacey know that her planning skills were helpful and let you enjoy yourself at your own wedding. We very much enjoyed getting to know the two of you.

This review is over-due actually, but I was reminded when I received my Inn newsletter announcing their brand new website (by the way, it's a great website). I can't recommend this B + B highly enough. Putting aside the beautiful grounds, main Inn and barn, and they are absolutely gorgeous, what makes this Inn stand out is the service you
receive. We didn't arrive until midnight. After driving 6 hours in a snow storm we weren't in the best of moods, but that changed as soon as we arrived. There was a note left for us and detailed directions on where to find our tastefully decorated room. We helped ourselves to complimentary organic sodas from the rec. room and promptly fell asleep in our comfy, warm bed. At breakfast the next morning we met Tim, and he was so helpful in the planning of our day. When we came back from our excursion, we decided to sit by the fire in the library, and have some freshly baked Inn cookies and tea....and then we ended up sitting there for the next 4 hours, reading the local Vermont books and chatting with Stephanie and Tim and giving Cooper (resident black lab) lots of pats. I'm sure they were ready to kick us out, but Stephanie made us these delicious hot snacks out of the blue, which was an unexpected treat and typical of the Inn we realized. The next morning, we were the first at breakfast
and the morning chef came over to chat and find out how our previous night's dinner plans went (we went to "Timbers" at the mountain, wouldn't repeat that experience unless you like steak sitting in a pool of ketchup, strangest thing I've ever seen, but that is another story ). We regret not taking the Inn's suggestions for dinner. If staying at the Inn, ask them where to eat, they had so many suggestions for us, unfortunately, we didn't ask in time. EVERYONE was SO helpful and nice. We are already trying to figure out another weekend to go. Unfortunately, because they host so many weddings, getting a weekEND reservation during their peak months (summer/fall) is impossible. Winter was a beautiful time to visit though...as long as you get there before the snowstorm. I would not hesitate to recommend this Inn to anyone. It's centrally located and a beautiful and easy drive from 89.

I'm going to make this very simple: The Inn at the Round Barn Farm is outstanding in every way. It is an absolutely beautiful property located in Waitsfield in the unspoiled Mad River Valley of Vermont. The rooms are lovely, the service is unparalleled and man can they cook!

The Inn at the Round Barn Farm is a bull's eye!

The Round Barn Inn is one of the best kept secrets in all of New England. As a "New Englander" who works in the hotel industry and stays at hotels all over the US, this property is very unique. This is what a true New England Inn is all about.

My wife and I attended a wedding at the Round Barn Inn in early January and decided to stay at the inn for the weekend. From the moment we walked in the door we felt welcome. From the fire in the fireplace to the smell of bacon being cooked the next morning, this place felt like home.

The wedding was incredible and the accommodations were just as good. If you are considering staying at a true New England Inn for the weekend, this place is a must! We can't wait to return.

Where do I begin? What a perfect place to stay, for an event or simply a relaxing getaway! We had our wedding here and it was absolutely perfect. The moment we arrived at the inn, our worries about the big event melted away and the staff took care of everything so that we could relax and enjoy our stay. The food at both the event and our breakfasts was delicious. The breakfast areas (both indoors and out) just make you want to linger over a good cup of coffee or tea and enjoy the view to the gardens and hills beyond.
The staff was friendly and went out of their way to ensure the comfort of both us and our guests. The inn and rooms were comfortable and even with a full house and an opera festival going on, there was plenty of peace and quiet.
We can't thank Anne Marie, Tim, Colleen, Stacy and the rest of the staff enough for making the entire weekend exactly what we were looking for. Many of our guests have told us it was the best wedding they have ever been to and cannot wait to return for a visit.

  • Liked — The incredible location, the warm and wonderful staff, and the fantastic, local, fresh food.
  • Disliked — ...the cost, but it was worth every penny
