My husband and I traveled to Stratton the day after Christmas expecting a winter wonderland and all we achieved was the fear of leaving there with scabies. We entered the lodge and were overwhelmingly disappointed. There was a woman running through the main entrance in a shirt without any pants. The inn was cramped with people and I am thankful that we are relatively short people because the clearance in the lobby would not have accommodated by 6 ft. 5' uncle. There was a fireplace in the entry where a woman in mom jeans proceeded to throw her beer bottle into the fire. On the walk to our room, we had to walk through the "spa" area. The word "spa" is not what I would use to describe this place. It was more like a sewage filled watering hole. To top it off, a man wearing his back/chest hair sweater bumped into us. Next, we had to walk down several flights of stairs with all of our luggage. When we arrived at our room, we were speechless at the horrors inside. The light in the entry way was a three bulb bathroom light. The carpet looked like several animals had pulled it up around the corners and there was a foul odor. The furniture looked as though it had been chewed by woodland creatures. The Inn and the entire Stratton resort should be ashamed of the bed especially. It was a glorified homeless shelter cot. The bed had one blanket and two very small decorative size pillows. The couch in the room was worn in and sinking in the middle. The flat screen TV that was pictured online turned out to be a 19" TV on a TV dinner stand. The bathroom was ridiculous! Everything within the bathroom was stained brown including the inside of the tub, the toilet and the sink. The paint on the toilet seat was peeling off and the threshold from the bathroom to the entry way was pulled up and a piece of plywood was there. We immediately returned to the front desk and demanded an upgrade. The woman informed us that several other people were waiting for an upgrade as well. Clearly others were terrified of their arrangements as well. Then, we asked to speak to the manager, he was conveniently not there. We left the resort after our eight hour drive with the intentions of never returning to any place in Stratton again. It was the most horrible place either have us have ever seen. We could not believe how we were misled not only by the pictures provided on the internet, as well as the staff when we were making our arrangements. The Stratton Inn is a true dump. By the way, the slopes close at four so get ready for all of those night activities they say are available because they are flat out lying. They are lucky to still be in business. They claim to cater to the New York and Boston elite. Well, after being a New Yorker for three years, I can say that this former New Yorker was not in the least impressed!
