“A Wonderful Anniversary Weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I stayed at the Stone Hill Inn for 2 nights for our first wedding anniversary. We couldn't have selected a better place to visit. The Inn is pure luxury... Beautifully decorated, a wonderfully prepared breakfast every morning, and warm and inviting hosts. George and Linda go out of their way to ensure that guests have a pleasant and memorable stay. We will definitely visit again!

We were looking for peace, quiet, rest and relaxation in a part of Vermont unfamiliar to us, and the Stone Hill Inn far exceeded our expectations. Our room (West Branch) was large, comfortable, quiet and secluded. We especially enjoyed the private patio. The bathroom was luxurious and the Jacuzzi was just what we needed after hiking. The breakfasts were scrumptious. All of these amenities were wonderful on their own, but were amplified by the warm and gracious nature of our hosts, Linda and George. These lovely people are not only pleasant and interactive, but extremely helpful to their guests. For example, George secured dinner reservations for us at difficult to access restaurants and was also a font of information on local attractions, driving directions and other travel essentials. While we tend to keep to ourselves, even at B&Bs, we were so charmed by Linda and George that we took every opportunity to interact with them, especially at breakfast and the late afternoon "merry din" social hour. In short, their efforts to provide "unexpected opportunities to celebrate life" were fulfilled to the utmost. We look forward to returning soon.

We stayed here last September as a two day treat at the end of a 3 week American jaunt from the uk and we were not disappointed!

Breakfasts were amazing and thoroughly American (a good thing, when faced with yet another hotel continental most of the time), cooked to order by our host Linda and delivered by George.

Our hosts were great, the evening canapés being our favourite part - on our last night we forgot about dinner and ended up drinking wine in front of the fire until 11. Oops...

Rooms are brilliant, bathrooms are huge, fires between the room and bathroom are a great touch.

Superb!

This is a very different and unique kind of B&B. It is new construction and was built to accommodate every need! No drafty windows or creaky floors in this property. When you enter the foyer you are immediately greeted by a large fireplace and gracious living all around. There are many comfy couches and chairs for lounging and reading. The grounds are stunningly beautiful complete with waterfall. The breakfast room is a study in Country French decor and loads of windows looking out on those previously mentioned grounds. Each room is decorated in a unique style --but all exude gracious living---complete with see through gas fireplaces, jacuzzy baths for two and flat screen televisions. Cozy overstuffed chairs make movie watching a fun option .
Every effort is made to make your stay as comfortable as possible---including a great room with pool table, a guests pantry with coffee and sweet breads in the morning and a fridge with complimentary beverages. Breakfast is the highlight, with Culinary Institute trained chef and innkeeper, Linda, offering amazing options like Orange-Pecan Belgian waffles and Mushroom
Gruyere Omlettes for example---as well as cereals, fruits, and homemade sweet breads every day. It was a challenge not to try everything! Innkeeper George is the upbeat and welcoming server for these amazing breakfasts. He is also provides the fun conversation at the evening social hour (appetizers by Linda!). This really was a lovely experience.

Room Tip: All the rooms are physically the same, just decorated in different colors, so it is hard to go wrong...

My husband Michael and I decided to stay in Stowe to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. We are beyond happy with our decision to choose the Stone Hill Inn for our visit. Linda and George are lovely. They made us feel very welcomed at the inn. We stayed in the Fiddlehead room which was absolutely gorgeous. We loved the fireplace in the room and the ability to slide our deck door open to see the gorgeous landscaped grounds. Linda is a fantastic cook! My husband is still raving about the wild salmon with eggs. He also admitted to me that the banana bread Linda made was better than his mother's but I will keep that one a secret! Overall, our stay was fantastic. The Stone Hill Inn met, and then exceeded, all of our expectations. We will definitely be making a return trip.

My wife, Marie, and I stayed at this extraordinary establishment for a 2 night getaway recently and cannot begin to thank the owners, George and Linda, for making it an unforgettable experience. The setting is beautiful, the premises spotless, and the hospitality unmatched. In a separate category, the breakfasts were on par with the best restaurants we have ever visited, and were delicious, creative, and satisfying. There is plenty to do in the area in all seasons, and George and Linda are extremely adept at helping people locate places and events that will occupy their time and provide enjoyment. If you want to feel at home, enjoy the beautiful Vermont countryside, and re-energize, than don't pass up the opportunity to visit Stone Hill Inn. We will definitely return in the future and will recommend it to anyone we know!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with an entrance to the rear garden area. Nicely landscaped with a soothing waterfal...

5/5 - Extraordinary!!

Linda and George had exceeded all of our expectations while we stayed at their spectacular Inn for our Mini-moon. Everything was incredibly well kept, spacious and very clean. We had a beautiful room (West Branch) with a huge jacuzzi tub and fireplace! Breakfast was not only amazing, but we didn't even need lunch after we ate in the mornings :)

Linda and George did everything and then some to make sure we had a wonderful stay, and we did. We will absolutely be back next spring. Thank for you everything, guys!

Room Tip: West Branch was off to the back and very private. We loved that room!
