“A wonderful place to stay in Stowe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2012

We decided to spend our anniversary at this beautiful lodge because we had passed by it on a few occasions on other trips to Stowe. We wanted to see if it was as beautiful inside as out. Well, it is!! We stayed only one night during the low season and there were not many guests as far as we could tell. It is a very large property and our room was a healthy walk from the lobby, but on our way, we passed the boutiques, the spa and the swimming pool which were all very very nice. When we checked in, I mentioned that it was our anniversary and the girl at the reception desk immediately upgraded us to a beautiful mini-suite on the third floor, complete with a fireplace, a full kitchenette, a huge marble bathroom and a balcony overlooking the ski hills. Of course there was no skiing as the hills were almost bare, but it was still nice to look at. The staff are incredibly friendly. Everyone greeted us as we passed by. I was amazed that the valet staff remembered our name each time we went in and out. Unfortunately, the restaurants were closed during our stay, but we were informed of this at check-in. Room service was still available however. The bed was so comfortable, due in part to the down pillows, duvet and the softest sheets we have ever slept on. I asked about them at the front desk and was told the bed linens are available for sale in the spa. Next time, we're not coming home without a set of those sheets!
We will recommend this hotel to everyone and we will definitely be going back! It's only a 3 hour drive through the beautiful green mountains of Vermont.

Happy Anniversary! Thank you for including us in your celebratory travels to Stowe, Vermont from Montreal and we are thrilled to hear we could help make it special. Our apologies that the restaurants were closed -- we close them shortly during the off-seasons to deep clean and conduct any repairs. We hope to welcome you back next year for your anniversary again!

I have been to this hotel 4 times, most recently this presidents day. We stayed in a two bedroom suite that was definitely smaller than other suites we have stayed in, but it was still very nice. from our room, we were able to see Mount Mansfield which was nice because other years we have had the gondola right outside our window which can be noisy. We ate at solstice one night and the food was excellent. The staff were friendly and the service was good. We never ate breakfast at the hotel, instead we ate in our room which had a nice kitchen before skiing. It was nice being able to go down to the ski valet and be able to walk to the lifts. One person who I traveled with does not ski, but she was able to go to the spa and snowshoe, both of which she said were wonderful.

Room Tip: You don'tu need a huge suite. All the different rooms I have stayed in have had nice fireplaces...

Although ski season had just ended, there was plenty to do at this resort and around Stowe. It's a beautiful resort and an excellent value. We did get an upgrade to a 1-bedroom probably because of the low occupancy rate during "mud season", and this made our trip even more enjoyable. The outdoor heated pool and fitness center are exceptional. The staff is very helpful and tries to do their best to accommodate requests. We took advantage of the Mercedes test-drive program, which I strongly recommend to any car enthusiast.

Room Tip: Make sure to try and get a room facing the pool and mountain. The pool may get a little noisy, but t...

We stayed here March 30 to April 2 won the auction on Luxury Link, everything was great, the drive there 8 1/2 hours from our home was very scenic and a bit of both Interstate and side roads, Driving up to the lodge greeted by wonderful valet staff, we were able to check right in, earlier than normal, but the room was on the first floor overlooking - actually right on the driveway leading into the lodge, asked for a higher floor, no problem, walked around till the room was ready, 3rd floor overlooking the front entrance and the ski slopes. Breakfast each morning was wonderful, Solstice was great, large portions, never left hungry, fresh fruit, great eggs etc. everything we saw going to other tables was great as well. Service everywhere was wonderful, staff very attentive without being in your face. great location, beautiful scenery. We ate at the Matterhorn, large menu, pub style, walked about town, Piecassos pizza the second day, late lunch/early supper, took home leftovers, it was good, large portions again. Loved the trip, would recommend for sure, would not go again, only because so many other places to go. Wish we could have skied, but only a few runs open, didn't want to do it just because. Was really hoping that would have been better. Great time had by all. We were a family of 4 - we are 50 and 48, kids 21 and 19. The kids never complained once about being bored. Loved the outdoor pool and hot tubs, and wondering about town checking our the sights.

Room Tip: You will get sun on your balcony March / April if you face the front of the resort. Not sure about t...

Our first impression was the valet parking staff.. Awesome!! Just be forewarned that valet parking each night was $19. Our weekend just kept getting better from there. Check in was painless..our room was gorgeous...beautiful views of spruce peak..The food was wonderful! Ski rental was fast and totally organized. We just called the ski concierge in the morning to tell them what time we were skiing and our skis were waiting for us outside. We were lucky to have one of the weekends of snow and the skiing was fab! This is a beautiful resort and will continue to visit yearly.
The only downside to our trip was a visit to the spa. Who get's a bad massage??? One of us did. Hopefully SML spa has trained their staff accordingly.
If you get a chance do some snowmobiling with Umiak tours... Amazing!!!

Stowe Mountain Lodge is pleased to hear that our staff was very accommodating, and the room was nothing short of your expectations. We are especially happy to hear it was easy for you to go from being in business meetings to being on the mountain. Hopefully we will be welcoming you back next spring for some more, great snowboarding.
