“Good location. Fair value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

Stayed there for five nights. Nice and close to the mounatin resort and right next to the toll road ski lift. Rooms nice and large. Breakfasts were ok. Would look for something that offers a bit more value for money in stowe next time though.

We did a week at Stowe at the Inn at the Mountain with the family (2 boys aged 8 and 11). The Inn is well situated about 10 min from Spruce Peak and you can access the Stowe ski complex right there from a chairlift at the Inn. Unfortunately the Inn is getting long in the tooth and there is a huge range in the quality of the rooms. The first place they gave us was simply unacceptable - had not been updated in 30 years. Kitchen, bathrooms, furniture were old and dingy. When we said no-way we ultimately ended up in a 1 bedroom townhouse back behind the Inn that was much better. But we had to fuss. When you make a reservation here you are really rolling the dice. Turned out ok for us but not sure we would do it again.

We loved Stowe - great trails, loved the skiing and we loved the restaurants in the area. More of a family vibe than Killington and better restaurants. Pinnacle ski shop and Inner Boots are great. The dog sled ride from Pups For Peace was a huge hit - you have to check it out.

Came here last weekend with a large group. We got 6 rooms all together on the 1st floor.

The room itself is dated but clean and comfy. The window/door leads outside where you can see the toll house lift.

-check in easy and quick

-breakfast was blah. waffle, cereal, bagels, muffins, fruit, yogurt, juice, coffee & milk

-location!!!
~the 1st day we walked over to the toll house lift from our room (2min walk). got on the lift to the main base. the lift ride was probably around 15 mins. it was def slow but wasn't a big problem for us since it wasn't cold nor windy. probably wouldn't recommend it if it's freezing though. at the end of the day we just the trail straight back to our rooms. there are some pretty flat parts though... don't slow down and you'll be fine. the 2nd day we drove 2 mins to the main base lodge since we had to check out anyways.
~ there are a bunch of restaurants near by.

Travelled here feb 2nd for five nights and stayed in condo 25. The condo itself was dated but clean with two bedrooms, three old style tvs and a decent kitchen. It was advertised as ski in/out...true if there is lots of snow, thankfully we had two powder dumps while we were there so the ski in/out improved while we were there but we had to cross a driveway and a parking lot so you had to walk or be very careful with your skis. The lift up to Mt. Mansfield is very slow but a nice view. There is also a resort shuttle that runs on weekends to the main base and a free public bus that runs to and from the mountain all week.

Our main complaints were the "breakfast", wireless Internet and room preparedness. When we checked in on Saturday we were told that there was a hot breakfast on the weekends at the Inn and cold on the weekdays. So we go to the Inn Sunday morning expecting eggs, bacon, potatoes maybe and get..self-serve waffles and toast..that was the hot breakfast. The also had some juice, empty coffee pots and cold cereal. The weekday breakfast...cold cereal, juice, yoghurt. Stay in your room and cook.

The wireless Internet was dodgy, seems trivial but we relied on it to contact family and catch up on business at home. We complained to staff..they seemed annoyed and nothing changed. The rooms were cleaned but not checked otherwise. Batteries not working on remotes, missing dishwasher detergent, small stuff but annoying.

All in all we enjoyed our vacation skiing and had low expectations of the Inn given prior reviews. Location is good but the Inn is more basic than implied by advertising. Believe the reviews going in to your stay and it will be fine.

Ps. We wish they had a hot tub. They told us one was available at the main resort at the hill, unfortunately it was at the spa and you had to pay $30 a day to use it..sheesh..we passed.

We stayed last weekend at one of the condos managed by the Inn at the Mountain while at Stowe for a wedding. The Inn's customer service was/is very good and they even offered us a free night to come up the night before the blizzard! However, we arrived very late on Thursday night and were given the keys to the Lodge condo unit 30. We needed a condo with 2 bedrooms and a pull out couch due to the number of people we had (my family plus my mother). Well, unit 30 has all of that but it also had a broken window in a bedroom which was fully open when we arrived. The furnishings are also, and I'm not joking, from at least the 1960's and everything is very dirty and worn. I wouldn't have slept at all in those beds had we stayed there. Luckily they were able to put us in another unit which did not have the pull out couch but had enough beds in one of the bedrooms. They also let me look at 3 units to decide which one I wanted. The new one (#24) was GREAT...definitely what I think of when I think of a ski condo. Very comfortable and pretty up to date and well-stocked.
As for the ski in/out aspect of this place I would say that description, as others have said, is pushing it. After looking at the skiers xc skiing it past our condo on the way to the trail we (wisely) decided to drive down to the lift and park there for the day. The Inn also did offer to drive us up to Mt. Mansfield or Spruce Peak. We actually took the shuttle home in the afternoon rather than ski home just because it was so cold/windy that day. All in all we had a great stay...once we were out of #30. I strongly urge the Inn to update this condo before renting it to people again.

Room Tip: Stay away from Lodge condo #30!!!!!!

the best thing about this hotel is the location: it is across the parking lot from the Toll House Slope, which has a chairlift that takes you onto the main mountain, Mt. Mansfield. Aside from the big fancy Spruce Lodge this is the only ski on/off at Stowe. Our room was spacious, 2 double beds. They were a little saggy, but not bad. Continental breakfast includes waffles. The Pub is open for lunch and apres-ski, but not dinner (!), We were not looking for a hotel with all the bells and whistles, so we were fine with this. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. I would stay there again since I love not having to drive to the mountain, but if you are looking for a 'resort", look elsewhere.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms 1 - 16; I think others are downstairs and more like basement rooms. Ours was quite pl...

We stayed at Bingham cottage. We were told when we reserved the room that there was wifi, flat screen TVs in all the rooms, and a wood burning fireplace. When we got there we were disappointed. It was like being lied to. Matter of fact we were lied to. The house had a very small amount of wifi. Small enough that only 1 out of our 8 wireless device could connect but not function. There were only 2 TVs in the whole house an out of date tv in the living room and a 25" flat screen in the basement. As for the fireplace, it was gas fueled so we had no need for the firewood we brought up. So if you are planning to go here don't expect to much. As for the staff at the guest services at stowe, their attitude could be corrected a bit. The only person that wasn't rude was Gretchen. Everybody else greeted me with a poor attitude. The guest services manager Heidi [--] was the worst of them all. Yes I may have been a tough customer but when I pay for something especially at that prices they are asking. I want my money's worth. I don't think that is a tall order to fill.
